24 alternatives to A new, clean, and concise look at weather from My-Cast
We just released a new weather website using all sorts of awesome web technologies. We use ModestMaps to show tiled, animated radar and satellite data, Raphael.js to show historical averages and record high/lows, and MapQuest's new Nominatim service sitting on top of OpenStreetMap to do location lookups. We're really proud of this site and would love to hear your feedback and to have try it out: http://preview.my-cast.com/

For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? Personally this was fueled by my own frustrations when I was apartment hunting in NYC. I was frustrating to have to juggle so many Google Maps tabs when I was evaluating a listing, and it was also annoying to not have full confidence that I was even searching in the right places. I wanted to be close to work, a Trader Joe's, and a…

I was walking around New York last month during some light rain and noticed about half the people had umbrellas open. When the rain picked up a few minutes later, that number jumped closer to 80%. It got me thinking it'd be cool to track this somehow, so I built a website! I am taking a sidewalk livestream, feeding it into a YOLO model for people tracking, then sending a frame of each detected person to Gemini 2.0 Flash, which returns structured JSON about each person's clothing and if they're holding an umbrella. I also had fun making the site look like a TV weather channel. I showed some…

The UK MET office recently redesigned their site, adding a lot of additional whitespace, scrolling, and animations. This significantly reduced its usability for me, and left me wanting an ‘at a glance’ weather site. I made https://brolly.sh, a minimalist, plain text weather forecasting site. You can use it to view weather from around the world, with: 7 day forecast; Previous day log (so you can confirm it definitely was cooler / hotter / wetter / drier yesterday!); Hourly rain, wind, temperature, conditions; Hourly UV, air quality and pollen, including pollen type…

Basically was getting annoyed jumping between 5 different sites during this winter storm season, so I built "StormWatch". It's a no-fuss, mobile-friendly webpage (dashboard) that shows all the stuff I was looking for, but in one simple UI. Features: - Real-time NWS alerts with safety tips - Snow/ice/precip accumulation forecasts (+wind) - Dynamic preparation checklists based on your alerts - Supply calculator for your household size - Regional weather news It's free, no login required, works on any device. Just enter your ZIP.…

This is a small iOS app (iPad / iPhone) app I worked on that basically shows weather on a map (along with day/night info). Just something I made to quickly see what conditions are like all over the world. http://bit.ly/tUuEKB (app is free and ad-free, more just an experiment than anything else) Backend is in java (server) and perl (pulling data). More interesting than the app is perhaps the platform behind it. I hope to introduce other kinds of data to be seen on a map. Currently getting about 500-1000 downloads per day on iPad. Really just curious if people find anything unique or…

This is a simple single page weather app I made that grabs data from NOAA for where I live. If you view the html source you can see it's pretty easy to configure it for wherever you live in the U.S. You just have to edit the links. Personally, I like using this more than any of the weather apps out there because it's fast and has the data I want and need, and no ads. It uses the latest version of Bootstrap and jQuery. https://ezofficetech.com/branson/
