Products that do what A Search Engine for the Tildeverse does
The tildeverse is the name for a loose community of public access unix systems inspired by Paul Ford's famous tilde.club essay. These little communities are built up around shared access to a single unix system, utilizing its native multi-user properties almost as a retro social network. Over time, the communities have grown and folks published handmade pages that have the vibe of the early WWW days. I built a search engine to let everyone find things on this quirky part of of the net. Enjoy!

Alternative search engines are neat, as are RSS feeds. OpenOrb is a self-hosted app which allows visitors to search over a list of blogs you love. If you put your 10 favourite blogs in there, it'll search just those blogs and not show you any sponsored content or machine-generated garbage (unless... you follow blogs written by machines?) Personal RSS feed readers can usually do this sort of thing, but RSS readers aren’t meant to be shared, so you can think of the search engine as a 'curated feed list as a public service'.
