Hi HN, We've been building out a PDF viewer to help support various tasks in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction space. We use it primarily for steel estimation right now, but are exploring how it might be useful across other engineering disciplines! From a tech perspective, the AI PDF viewers we've ran into use mostly PDF metadata/text, so they dont work well on engineering schematics which are mostly visual. Hi HN, I’m building an agentic IDE for hardware developers. It currently supports Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, and a bunch of other boards (mostly hobbyist for now, but expanding to things like PlatformIO). It can already write and debug hardware projects end-to-end on its own. The goal is to have it also generate breadboard views (Fritzing-style), PCB layouts, and schematics. Basically a generative EDA tool. Right now, it’s already a better drop-in replacement for the Arduino IDE. Would love feedback from folks here.

I’m one of the co-founders of Doctly AI. I wanted to share our story. We didn’t originally set out to build a PDF-to-Markdown parser. It all started when we were building a RAG solution for a company that deals with regulatory agencies. All of their data was in PDFs, and as it is apparently with lawyers, they like to print and scan documents to make it hard on their counterparts. Also I felt the need to be able to go beyond the 1D chat to communicate with agents. So I created a local document memory, that is discoverable by agents themselves. I built a tool to roast landing pages with AI agents. I was gathering feedback from watching landing page roast videos, and figured out I could prompt LLMs to analyse a screenshot and roast based on the same criteria. I'm building a workspace for doing focus work while also managing constant multi-tasking and context-switching that's required in a lot of roles.
