Hey HN! I want to share my side project with you. It's called Bud and it's a full-stack web framework for Go. I created a short video to show you how to create a minimal Hacker News clone with Bud: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoypcRqn-xA. The framework is free, open source and MIT Licensed. You can find it on Github: https://github.com/livebud/bud. I started working on Bud 2 years ago after watching the introductory Laracast videos about the Laravel web framework. I was just blown away by how productive you can be in Laravel. However, like many of you,…

I'd like to invite everyone to try out DontBeEvil.rip, an experimental search engine for developers. tl;dr $ alias rip="curl -G -H 'Accept: text/plain' --url https://dontbeevil.rip/search --data-urlencode " $ rip 'q=Heartbleed bug' DontBeEvil.rip is a year long experiment to see if a small team can build a developer-focused search engine that is self-sustaining on $10 monthly subscriptions. It works by only indexing high-quality resources that are relevant to developers. You won't get useless listicles because we'll never crawl them. Relevant urls are harvested from HN,…

Hello there, happy holidays. I've been maintaining for 6 years this Dog API that only returned facts. I recently rewrote the project to make it more flexible [1] and I had a blast doing so. This API has been used by a lot of computer science students, as well as bots and other 3rd party services that integrated in the past. The old endpoint receives around 1,000-1,500 requests per day, which makes me happy. The goal is to extend it to make it more interesting and usable, I collect dog data in my spare time. I'm not looking to monetize it, it's just for the love of education. Feel free to use…

tl;dr we at Escape (YC W23), we scanned 5651+ public APIs on the internet with our in house feedback driven API exploration tech, and ranked them using security, performance, reliability, and design criteria. The results are public on https://apirank.dev. You can request that we index your own API to the list for free and see how it compares to others. Why we did that? During a YC meetup I spoke with a fellow founder that told me how hard it was to pick the right external APIs to use within your own projects. I realized that most of what we build relies on public APIs from external…

We built Gonzo to make log analysis faster and friendlier in the terminal. Think of it like k9s for logs — a TUI that can ingest JSON, text, or OpenTelemetry (OTLP) logs, highlight and boil up patterns, and even run AI models locally or via API to summarize logs. We’re still iterating, so ideas and contributions are welcome!
