Products that do what An AI Color Grader – Pico does
I'm a filmmaker, and have been pretty frustrated by AI video editors that are focused on automating editing instead of helping artists produce their visions. Recently got curious about whether Claude could color grade my footage, and built Pico. Turns out Claude can (sometimes!) Please feel free to ask questions, try it on your own footage, or contribute to the project! Ask: if you are a researcher or hobbyist filmmaker, I'd love to chat with you to figure out how to make the models better at this!

Hi HN, I’m Emil, the maker behind Palette. I’ve been tinkering with AI and colorization for about five years. This is my latest colorization model. It’s a text-based AI colorizer, so you can edit the colorizations with natural language. To make it easier to use, I also automatically create captions and generate filters. Let me know what you think. You can see some of my results on my reddit page: https://www.reddit.com/user/emilwallner/?sort=top

Hi I am looking for some feedback on our new project "Sketch Colourisation". The envisioned UI and objectives are -- * An artist should have greater control on how to colour a sketch. While a text-to-image model lacks this fine-grained control, a per-pixel colourisation pipeline makes sketch colourisation a laborious process with high-entry barrier. * What if an artist only draws a mask for a local region and specifies the colour palette for that local region? Then a neural network figures out how to colour the overall sketch -- while maintaining those local colour palette. [I would really…

Hello HN, Recently an amazingly beautiful explainer was shared on HN: https://explainers.blog/posts/why-is-the-sky-blue/ I loved it so much that I wished more topics were explained that way. So, I decided to stress-test today's frontier models (Opus 4.6 in Claude Code) to generate similar explainer on any given topic WITH (almost) one shot and minimal nudging. I'm launching with four topics: Fourier transformation, scaling laws in bio, cellular automata and LLMs. I would let you be the judge, but I'm quite liking them. Some things I learned: - Prompting CC to test…

I got tired of repetitive editing tasks, so I built a tool that simplifies bulk edits using text prompts and AI workflows. Now I can quickly handle things like virtual staging, changing backgrounds, adding/removing objects, adjusting brightness and exposure, color corrections, boosting contrast and clarity, fixing distortions, batch color grading and much more! But most importantly, I can do this to all selected images, tens, hundreds or more. I'm particularly interested in feedback on the workflow and UI from photographers/editors who handle large volumes of images. I've increased…

I’ve spent the last month or so hacking on a prototype to let filmmakers make concept art more quickly with recent generative image tools. This is very much a beta—with current functionality you can make projects, generate shots, and upload scripts which we can process into shotlists. Features I’m working on as we speak: character consistency, location consistency, framing and composing shots. Let me know what you think or what else I should build!

Hi HN, I’ve been tinkering with this for a while and finally have it in a decent state. It’s a plotter robot that draws caricatures from photos. I trained a diffusion model (Flux Kontext LoRA) on caricature images, 3D-printed a Sharpie mount for my Ender 3, and hacked together a pipeline that goes photo → caricature → G-code. After a lot of trial and error it’s working pretty well, and I put up a little site where you can try it out. Happy to answer questions or hear any feedback. Thanks!

Hey everyone, recently I've been theorizing how claude code's agentic capabilities and overall structure can be extended to image generation. And so, I created this concept where an image is generated, and an agentic evaluation loop identifies what's wrong with the image and fixes it.

Hola HN! Long time lurker, sometimes commentor, first time poster here. I’ve been working alongside my two co-founders and a few colleagues on a project I’m excited (and a little nervous) to share with you all! Like many of us, I’ve lived a tortured existence with AI coding (is it vibes?) over the past few months - I think November was a big moment with this. But, one thing I’ve noticed after building orchestration layer after orchestration layer is that the thing I always came back to was “what the hell is Claude Code actually doing?” Perhaps it’s because of the time Claude Code got…
