Products that do what Antimatter – Match the opposites (Mahjong solitaire mechanic) does

I love word association games. Here's a playable wordplay game where you match opposite word tiles. After playtesting a lot of mechanics, I think opposites play really nicely with Mahjong solitaire. The current generation of frontier LLMs can't make puzzles that get much more interesting than hot-vs-big-vs-fast. New inferences keep circling a small pool of concepts unless the prompting has a way to get the LLM into new territories of language. Puzzlemaking needs graph traversals. I made 20 levels algorithmically because I work with a huge semantic graph with over 100M edges, built from…

Forkle (forkle.co.uk) is a daily word game where two thematically linked crosswords occupy the same grid simultaneously. Every tile contains two letters - one belonging to each puzzle - displayed as a diagonal colour split. Where the two puzzles intersect, some tiles share the same letter, giving you a foothold into both crosswords at once. The mechanic has two layers: the shared grid, and the connected themes. Each day's two crosswords are thematically paired around a central idea. For example, a previous puzzle was "Same House, Different Kingdoms" - same home, same humans, entirely…

Hello HN! We're Rory and Chris, and we've made a game called Dozenal[0], a grid-based number puzzle game where the objective is to use all the tiles on the board to create totals of 12 (hence the name). We think the mechanic is quite unique, although keen to hear if people know of similar games! You essentially drag tiles across the board, and the distance between two numbers decides the arithmetic operation when they connect to each other: zero spaces is addition, one space is subtraction, two spaces is multiplication: e.g. 5 → 4 = 9 5 → _ → 4 = 1 5 → _ → _ → 4 = 20 We've spent the past…

This is an idea I’ve been kicking around for a long time, and I decided to finally code it up. In the same way that Scrabble decomposes words into letters, what if there was a game that decomposed letters into sub-shapes? There’s a lot of directions this could go, and I’m still exploring the possibility space. Enjoy. Suggestions welcome. It doesn’t have a real name yet.

Riddler is a daily, casual word game. Move down the word path by changing one letter at a time, using riddle and image clues to proceed. What's different about Riddler compared to _most_ casual word games is that it's designed to generate its own puzzles and content autonomously with LLMs. I say _most_ casual word games because there is a brilliant exception – Wordle. [https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html] The genius of Wordle lies in its simplicity. Players have six attempts to guess a five-letter word, receiving feedback for each guess in the form of…

Hi everyone, Wanted to share a game I built. It's called Unscramble! and I believe it's the simplest word building game. Rules: You get a few letters on screen. You need to make one word with all the letters. Tap a letter to select. Tap again to deselect. Faster you go, better you score. If you enter anagrams of the word it's looking for, it gives you extra points. If you are stuck, you can either "Ask Friend" or get Hint. You get extra points for getting the word fast but you don't get penalized for taking too long. I believe the simplicity of the game along with big touch buttons makes it…

WordBattle is a daily 6-letter word guessing game with team leaderboards. The twist: AI agents get their own accounts, play the same daily puzzle, and rank alongside human players. It's also really fun to play in teams against your family, friends and co-workers. Agents are handicapped — humans see exact letter positions (correct/present/absent), but agents only learn whether a letter exists in the word or not. No positional info. It makes the game fair while giving agents a genuine challenge. Agent accounts are visually tagged on leaderboards so humans know who they're competing…

Hello HN, I created Crossle after playing a dice version of this once. it's web/mobile only with mechanics similar to wordle. the object is to create a crossword using scrabble words that is fully connected and each word is at least 3 characters long. all letters must be used. Fun weekend coding project that I'd love to get any feedback on. thanks!

Motplot and has the vibe of Sudoku if you played it with words instead of numbers. I made it so I would stop losing at bananagrams to my 99 year old grandma, but she beats me at this too. It's free, there's a new puzzle daily, hope you like it!

I built this daily puzzle game called "Omitten". The idea came from a compulsive habit I got from reading books on an e-reader and constantly looking up definitions (iykyk). Quite often you'd see a single word with 20 different meanings in different contexts, and I wanted to build a game around that. In the game you get a maximum of 4 clues. The first one will generally be an archaic form or an unusual context. The second and third pivot into entirely different domains to try and trick your brain, and by the fourth, it should be fairly obvious. You start with only the first clue, and as you…
