I wanted an ASCII animation for one of my projects but couldn't find any collection or library for anything like that, so I cooked this up over a weekend with some ideas, inspiration and Claude. Feel free to add your own patterns!

Looking at websites such as Clerk, I began thinking that design engineers might be some kind of wizards. I wanted to understand how they do it, so I started reverse-engineering their components out of curiosity. One thing led to another, and I ended up building a small library of reusable, animated components based on what I found. The library is built in React and Framer Motion. Cascii – A portable ASCII diagram builder written in vanilla JavaScript▲238
3 months ago I wanted to draw an ASCII diagram to include in some documentation at work. I found the few tools online to be insufficient, and was suprised there wasn't a more complete tool to get the job done. Since, I've built Cascii from scratch in vanilla Javascript (I'm not an FE dev, it might be obvious...). I hope it works alright. Please check out the live version at https://cascii.app, report problems, make diagrams to improve your code's documentation. Hope you enjoy using it.

I've made an ASCII drawing board. You can set any brush, canvas size, export art as a text file. I want to keep it as manual/analog as possible, hence there is no tool for converting image to ASCII. Prompting LLMs to draw ASCII art turned out to be a difficult task . So instead I decided to ask it make a drawing board. Wihtout coding agent I wouldn't even try myself.
