After a lot of work, I'm proud to show HN my first real "startup idea". HN has been a real inspiration to me. Attach.io allows users to upload files up to 2GB (soon to be 8GB) and share them with others. Attach.io offers the regular file for download, and also if possible, an alternative preview version, so users can view files on their iPad for example. Hi all, about a month ago my wife was complaining about how annoying all of the photo sharing services were. Either the UI was overly complicated or it would ask people to register for the service before they could view the photos, etc. So I decided to build something dead-simple that she could use. So I came across this really cool new service that works like Instapaper for video, and thought I'd share it with HN. Just got my invite today and I've been LOVING it so far. I made a simple site that allows you to upload files. It requires no sign up and 100% free. The biggest advantage is that it returns you the direct URL to your file. So you can use it to store images for MD-based forum posts. Or put in your site's . I use the Cloudflare R2 storage which offers zero egress fees. So I pay $0 of transfer costs. I can see a product like this being useful as a headless CMS, sharing a files outside Dropbox/GDrive, config files for web and IoT projects, and general backup. Let me know what you think, HN.
