Hey all, author here! This is a demo of the rules engine we built to fight spam/abuse on the internet. It was built based on learnings from Facebook & Google, while trying to make a language that makes it simple for anti-spam analysts to quickly (and safely) deploy rules to production. Unfortunately it looks like the Twitter event feed is temporarily down (they're blocking it, possibly as part of shutting down the API on Thursday). I have a cache of events from a little earlier that I'm going to try play through the stream.

Hey HN! My name is Andrew, and I'm thrilled to share with you a project I've been working on called Factful. I'm a high school student with a passion for tackling misinformation online. Inspired by the need for more reliable content verification tools, I decided to create Factful. It's an AI-powered web app designed to revolutionize how individuals and organizations verify content. Unlike traditional grammar checkers, Factful provides a comprehensive analysis that goes beyond just grammar. It evaluates context, factuality, coherence, and more to ensure the accuracy and credibility of…

Hey HN, I’ve been an indie hacker for a while, but I haven’t had much success with my past projects. Recently, I came across Marc Lou’s advice about building free tools just for fun, so I decided to give it a shot. I built Metacheck, a simple tool that lets you preview how any link will appear on Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Whatsapp, Telegram, and other platforms. No API keys, no setup—just paste a link and see the preview. Why I built this I often ran into issues where social platforms displayed broken or unexpected link previews. Debugging Open Graph meta tags was annoying, so I made a tool…

Hi, I have been reading marketing and business books recently and found plenty of them are filled with meaningless corporate jargon. These books could often be 1/3 of the original length and much more straightforward. I wrote a tiny library to calculate the amount of meaningless jargon in any text for myself, and open-sourced it later because someone may need this.

We built a Chrome extension and iOS app that filters Twitter's feed using Qwen3.5-4B for contextual matching. You describe what you don't want in plain language—it removes posts that match semantically, not by keyword. What surprised us was that because Twitter's ranking algorithm adapts based on what you engage with, consistent filtering starts reshaping the recommendations over time. You're implicitly signaling preferences to the algorithm. For some of us it "healed" our feed. Currently running inference from our own servers with an experimental on-device option, and we're working on fully…

There's lots of improvements I'd like to make but thought I should get some feedback first to see if anyone's interested in it. The main page just shows the most recent feed items (currently from only the 3 feeds I've added myself), but the idea is that it'll show the most popular items aggregated from all users. It also provides TLDR summaries for each item, based on word frequency. http://bayfig.com EDIT: Typo

Hey everyone, Common advice for inexperienced hackers suggests "scratching an itch." Like many others here, I spent too much time on HN, Google Reader and Twitter searching for interesting stuff, so I decided to write an app that brings interesting links to you with no other distractions. HighFive uses Twitter and bit.ly's APIs to find interesting links in your timeline. When you log in, you'll see a group of five links with voting arrows. No HN comments or RSS feeds with hundreds of links--just a few interesting articles that you can read, then get back to work. HighFive was built using…
