24 alternatives to Beast – A Build System
Beast is a build system built for speed and power - a tool for all your build needs. GitHub: https://github.com/GauravDawra/Beast Docs: https://gauravdawra.github.io/Beast-docs/ As a project grows larger, it becomes difficult to keep track of all the build and compilation procedures that need to be followed. So what should we do??? Not to worry! Beast helps you build your projects with minimal effort and high efficiency, bringing more power to you. In addition, it is super easy to use and syntactically easy to understand, making it suitable for both:…

Buildstash▲168Hey HN! We just launched open sign up on Buildstash. It's a platform for managing and sharing software binaries. I'd worked across game dev, mobile apps, and agencies - and found every team had no real system for managing their built binaries. Often just dumped in a shared folder (if someone remembered!). No system for versioning, keeping track of who'd signed off what when, or what exact build had gone to a client, etc. Existing tools out there for managing build artifacts are really focused on package repository management. But miss all the other types of software not being deployed that…

Hey HN! I've been working with Go for the last 5+ years at large-ish companies building products that many of you may use regularly. A ton of people say that Go's standard library is really powerful and usually enough to get by without external dependencies. I think that's true for companies that have the resources to build and maintain packages to reduce code duplication. For everyone else, we're left to finding the right set of packages to build our projects. So, I built Copper - a toolkit that helps you get your project off the ground with minimal dependencies. It covers everything from…

Bullet▲240Hi HN, excited to be sharing this with you guys today. TL;DR: Bullet is a fast coding agent. At our company, we were burning hours waiting on agent runs. The models weren’t the problem. The agent loops around them were slow (unnecessary planning, oversized context, repeated searches, and serial tool calls). So we built Bullet as a passion project, the goal being to help you iterate faster, without giving up quality: - It automatically selects the model and reasoning level for each prompt. - It runs independent searches, reads, and commands in parallel. - It uses targeted code search instead…

Hi HN, I've been taking a break from my big side projects to work on a smaller side project - a tiny build system that's based on what I've learned from using Ninja and ad-hoc Python for my homebrew build systems over the last few years. It's basically a promise-based dependency graph runner plus a simple text templating engine, and it works quite well for the smallish projects I've tried it out on so far. If you find Make crufty, CMake inconsistent, Ninja verbose, and Bazel just too much build system, give Hancho a try. Don't like one of Hancho's defaults? It's only 500 lines - hack it up…
