Hey all, creator of Video.js and co-founder of Mux & Zencoder here. My team and I built this. I hope you like the themes we’ve built so far, and maybe even get inspired to build your own. I know Web Components are in a bit of a drama cycle right now. I’m happy to see them get any attention really. I’ve been pretty bullish on them since ~2013 when I started working with them, at least in the context of a widget like a video player. I’ve even given many related talks on them like this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6Mh84SRoDg). I would never push them for a large app or…

I built this free, no-nonsense white noise app. I know there are plenty of them out there already, but I wanted to make something beautiful and easy-to-use, without logins or ads or in-app purchases or any of the other stuff a lot of them have. I appeared on The Economist's The Intelligence podcast [0] this week talking about Ambiphone and another ambient music project, Ambient ScotRail Beats [1] - I'm on at about 17:30 There's a big selection of music and sounds already but I'm always adding more - if there's anything you'd like to see added, let me know! After two years of development, I'm super excited to release Beat Maker! This is my take on what I hope is the best free, web-based drum machine. My goal was to build something that was not only fun and easy to use for beginners but also powerful enough for serious producers. I did extensive research on existing drum machines, analyzed their UX, and tried to build something that adds something new. It's a nearly 100% client-side app, written in ClojureScript, and is a PWA so you can install it to your home screen for an app-like experience. Besides the standard grid editor, Beat Maker has…

I’ve always liked having background noise while working or falling asleep, but I got frustrated that most “white noise” or ambient sound apps are either paywalled, stuffed with ads, or try to upsell subscriptions for basic features. So I made Ambi, a small iOS app with a clean interface and a set of freely available ambient sounds — rain, waves, wind, birds, that sort of thing. You can mix them, adjust volume levels, and just let it play all night or while you work. Everything works offline and there are no hidden catches. It’s something I built for myself first, but I figured others might…

Hello all! I've been an avid fan of Pocket Operators by Teenage Engineering since I found out about them. I even own an EP-133 K.O. II today, which I love. A couple of months ago, Reddit user andiam03 shared a Google Sheet with some drum patterns [1]. I thought it was a very cool way to share and understand beats. During the weekend I coded a basic version of this app I am sharing today. I iterated over it in my free time, and yesterday I felt like I had a pretty good version to share with y'all. It's not meant to be a sequencer but rather a way to experiment with beats and basic sounds,…

If you already know what bytebeat is, you don't need an explanation. If not, check my project :) Here is how it looks: SELECT mono(output( arraySum(x -> 1 / 6 * running_envelope(30 * (1 + x / 6), time, 0.05 * x, 0.005, lfo(0, 0.25, sine_wave, time / 8), 0.1) * sine_wave(time * 80 * exp2(x / 3)), range(12)))) FROM table; To check how it sounds, find the examples in the repository https://github.com/ClickHouse/NoiSQL

Hi HN, Gabriel here. This is a standalone binaural beat generator, combined with a two-deck local audio player built with the Web Audio API. It includes ten harmonic carrier pairs, seven brainwave-state presets, per-harmonic mixing (so the binaural tones aren't out-of-tune with the music), adjustable beat and carrier frequencies, two oscillator shapes, offline key/BPM analysis, automatic carrier matching, adaptive impulse noise, playlist support, and output recording. The main problem I've had with existing "binaural beat" generators is that the tone generated does not remain in-tune…
