Hello HN! I just published my first npm library as a small way to give back to the open source community. I built `spoilerjs`, a lightweight web component that lets you hide text with an animated spoiler effect. Think Reddit spoilers, but with more flair! It works with plain HTML, React, Vue, or Svelte, and you can customize attributes like particle density, velocity, and scale. The effect is totally inspired by the Telegram app! Invite code: hackernews. No email required for signup. My friend group loves playing nonograms and competing against each other, but we always send each other screenshots of the solved game grid and time after the fact. So from the start, I knew I wanted leaderboards, replays, and shareable links. I also added PWA support so it can be added to the home screen on mobile and an offline play mode. No ads, analytics or nonsense, just nonograms. Some other goodies as well such as YouTube-like scrubber and KDE-based visualization in replays.…

Hi guys! Our team of HN lurkers been hard at work for what feels like an eternity now and today we're proud to present our first public product: The Walkbase library for Android. You can get it at www.walkbase.com With Walkbase, app developers can push location-specific room-level context (e.g. in-game content, coupons, mobile ads) to various smartphone apps. The idea is to give you a logical context (e.g Starbucks, SOMA) rather than an approximate GPS position for your users and we hope devs will be able to build a bunch of cool stuff on top of this. We hope you like it and find it useful.…

Hi HN, I'm working on a notes app and am keen to gauge interest. The core idea is being able to re-arrange the note hierarchy: Date -> Topic -> Note for timeline view Topic -> Date -> Note for topic view I believe these two projections add significant value to a solid markdown note app foundation, without unnecessary bloat or distraction. Thanks!

I was randomly browsing claude codes ralph wiggum plugin[1] and was surprised to see my toy project referenced. Since it appears people are getting some value out of it, thought I'd share it here... Full disclosure, this repo itself was built with a primitive ralph wiggum loop so expect AI slop. It works though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://mikeyobrien.github.io/ralph-orchestrator/ [1] https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/tree/main/plugins/...

I built a daily puzzle where a piece of paper is folded and hole-punched, and you predict where all the holes end up when it's unfolded. It's the kind of thing I used to do in grade school with actual paper and scissors, and it turns out the mental version is a surprisingly good spatial reasoning challenge. Three difficulties each day: easy is a 4×4 grid with one fold, hard is 6×6 with three folds. It's built with Next.js. The puzzles are generated deterministically on the fly using a daily seed. The engine runs a forward simulation of the paper folds using 2D coordinate mirroring, then…

What: So I built this small (and ofc free) web-based interactive game where folks solve a murder mystery while learning MongoDB commands and concepts. It combines a fun storyline with practical lessons to help you practice querying and navigating data. It’s not a full tutorial—more like a self-directed exercise with an optional walkthrough to guide you. Motivation: Over the holidays, I wanted to teach MongoDB basics to my 8th-grade nephew in an interactive and exciting way. I was inspired by the popular SQL Murder Mystery and thought, “Why not create something similar for MongoDB?” I tested…
