As I couldn't find a proper web based open source tool that could help me with my bookkeeping, I spend a week to built one myself. It's based on laravel and provides revenue, expenses, travel allowance and depreciation sections. Everything is then merged to an annual statement, that can be exported as a pdf and used for tax filing. It's far away from perfect (no tests yet), but I would be happy to hear what you think about it and maybe find someone to join in.

Hi HN, I’m one of the creators of Erudyte, a platform providing computer science teaching tools. We’re excited to share it with HN! Our website is https://erudyte.io/ and you can try it now without creating an account. As students we didn't like the traditional method of coding on paper. Not being able to test our code and the inconsistencies in grading made the process frustrating for both us and our teachers. Therefore, we developed a platform that simplifies authoring and grading questions. You can generate hundreds of test cases easily using a no-code visual test case…

We just made our BI v 7.0 product completely open source and free including all enterprise versions. Hence in github downloaded version, you can also get things like AI chat analytics (with bring your own LLM), multi-tenancy, embedding, SSO, RLS, report busting, paginated canned reports etc. Zero functionality difference between Community or Enterprise version. Would love some feedback https://github.com/helicalinsight/helicalinsight

I rebuilt Biblos, my semantic Bible search app, to run entirely in your browser. No more server costs. The main challenge was fitting an accurate text embedding model into browsers. Last year's version cost $20 monthly to host. The new version runs free on Vercel and searches 31k Bible verses without sending data to any server. I pre-compute embeddings for all 31,000 Bible verses offline using BGE-large-en-v1.5. Each verse becomes a 1024-dimensional vector stored as JSON, compressed into ZIP files by book. When you visit the site, your browser downloads Transformers.js and the BGE model. The…

There are two parts for this project: 1) The LLM-powered pipeline to extract citations (books + authors) from books and resolve them using both Wikipedia and Goodreads with offline copies I have. The result is data associating Books/Authors to other Books/Authors with accurate bibliographical information spanning centuries. 2) A WebGPU + D3.js powered visualization tool written by Claude Code so I'm able to deal with all this data on the browser on a more or less comfortable experience for the viewer. I spent some months on a off with this project, and definitely the most…

Hi HN, I built a collection of 40+ PDF tools using Kimi k2.5 (with about $50 worth of credits) and a lot of “vibe coding”. The site: https://pdfuck.com (almost forgot I owned this domain ) What it does: 40+ PDF-related tools Completely free No downloads, everything runs in the browser All processing is done locally in your browser for better privacy It’s deployed on Cloudflare, so the running cost is basically close to zero. This started as a small experiment and slowly grew into a fairly complete PDF toolbox. I’d really appreciate feedback on performance, UX, and what tools you…
