I figured I needed to work on my coding skills before building the next groundbreaking AI app, so I started working on this free tool site. Its basically just an aggregation of various commonly used calculators and unit convertors. Link: https://www.calcverse.live Tech Stack: Next, React, Typescript, shadcn UI, Tailwind CSS Would greatly appreciate your feedback on the UI/UX and accessibilty. I struggled the most with navigation. I've added a search box, a sidebar, breadcrumbs and pages with grids of cards leading to the respective calculator or unit convertor, but not sure if…

We launched Infracost on HN five years ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26064588) where our CLI generated cost estimates for infra-as-code, e.g. "this Terraform PR adds $400/mo". The idea was to shift cloud costs (FinOps) left, so engineers get visibility of costs before deployment and make better decisions. Earlier this year we started seeing agent traffic in our logs and it looked like coding agents were calling our CLI. But that CLI wasn't designed with coding agents in mind. We went down a philosophical rabbit hole to see if a CLI is even needed anymore given…

Hey HN, I built AgentBudget after an AI agent loop cost me $187 in 10 minutes — GPT-4o retrying a failed analysis over and over. Existing tools (LangSmith, Langfuse) track costs after execution but don't prevent overspend. AgentBudget is a Python SDK that gives each agent session a hard dollar budget with real-time enforcement. Integration is two lines: import agentbudget agentbudget.init("$5.00") It monkey-patches the OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs (same pattern as Sentry/Datadog), so existing code works without changes. When the budget is hit, it raises BudgetExhausted before the next API…

We’re excited to share ML-Dev-Bench, a new open-source benchmark that tests AI agents on real-world ML development tasks. Unlike typical coding challenges or Kaggle-style competitions, our benchmark simulates end-to-end ML workflows including: - Dataset handling and preprocessing - Debugging model and code failures - Implementing new model architectures - Fine-tuning and improving existing models With 30 diverse tasks, ML-Dev-Bench evaluates agents across critical stages of ML development. To complement this, we built Calipers, a framework that provides systematic performance evaluation and…

Hi HN, I’m Yahya, founder of Rocket Money (formerly Truebill, YC W16). I’m working with a team to launch Payloop, a lightweight infrastructure layer that helps teams understand the real costs of deploying AI agents - across tasks, workflows, and customers. Here's a quick demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-GkSl_7imY Most companies today can't see what it actually costs to deploy their agents, making it nearly impossible to manage margins or price confidently. Payloop solves this with an elegant approach: just a single line of code gives you real-time visibility into cost…
