I've posted this game here before, hopefully a repost is fine as the game has changed quite a bit (improved AI, improved mapeditor, much quicker gameplay, etc). Game is based on JavaScript/Canvas and WebSockets. On the browser side the map is pre-rendered (as a background image), just the mobile units/buildings and animations are dynamically rendered. The lobby server is made in node.js, but the game server is C++ for performance reasons (mainly the pathfinding). I found the C++ WebSocket libraries out there to be too difficult to use so I made my own based on the rfc. Overall I…

A few months ago (82 days to be exact!) I posted a link on HN to my game, Meatshields. A bunch of you commented and played my game and gave me some wonderful feedback. Over the last few months I've been playing with many of you and implementing the best of everybody's suggestions. So, thank you, HN for all your help! I feel this is an extreme overhaul I couldn't have done without your input. Since then, I have: Dramatically improved our hosting platform (So it HOPEFULLY won't go down this time (oops.)), Added two new units, Rebalanced all existing units, Added many more maps, Improved the…

Trading cards are awesome, but paying $30 for some cardboard isn’t. I’ve upscaled 60,000 cards from the entire catalog of Yugioh, Magic, Pokemon, & a newer game, https://elestrals.com. I've made it easy to build a decklist, download it, and then print at home. Modern inkjet printers got really good when nobody was looking. While it’s clear they’re not real cards, the upscaling makes them look great for casual play (these are not tournament legal). It’s totally free, give it a try! PokerBench is my attempt at a new LLM benchmark wherein frontier models play Texas Hold'em in an arena setting. It also features a simulator to view individual games and observe how the different models reason about poker strategy. Opus/Haiku, Gemini Pro/Flash, GPT-5.2/5 mini, and Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning have all been included. All code -> https://github.com/JoeAzar/pokerbench

Hello HN, I have started FBG some years ago when I moved to the Bay Area and could not find a simple, cross-platform, no-registration way to play board games with my friends back in my home country. I also wanted to make it simple to create multiplayer board games online for developers in their free time. Shortly after, I found out about boardgame.io with similar goals and decided to join forces with them. It became the engine of our board games, and we focused on publishing/serving them. To be fair with everyone and inspired by Wikipedia, we made the project a non-profit with GPLv3…

I enjoy playing poker with my friends, but I have to admit, I’m a classic ‘fish’, particularly after a beer! I’ve created a web app where fellow fish can practice their poker skills for free against bots. www.pokerpupil.com As a homage to old computer games, I’ve added a boss/panic screen: press ‘b’ to open a fake spreadsheet. (Desktop web only) My hope is us fellow fish can rise up and take down our next home game. I built the game in Flutter, using this tutorial as a base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSN2hBf8D5Q Things I liked about Flutter: (1) Components are fun…
