Products that do what ChartBear, an API to create chart images in seconds does
A few months ago, I was asked to build a reporting Slack bot for our internal stakeholders. This bot, among other things, had to send them some charts. During my make-or-buy process, I evaluated some services, but I wasn't totally satisfied with any of them, mainly for two reasons: firstly, because in most of those services, the data is sent as query parameters, and since the data in my case are sensitive, I didn't want that. The second reason was that the rendered chart images were not as cool as I wanted. I'm the kind of person who likes beautiful things . So, I did some testing, and I…

A web platform I've written to make it easy for people to share goespatial time series data and display it on animated heatmaps. There's also a social media component that allows you to write comments, follow, share and like data sets that you want to engage with. You can also download the CSV data and embed animations into your own websites. People uploading datasets can also choose to make money by accepting donations. Please check out the home page for more details: https://mapipedia.com Here are some samples of things created with the platform (press the play button to start…

There is a two minute demo video on the page if you want to see how it works, or you can use free trial without needing a credit card. I was wondering if you would use such a tool directly in Slack or prefer receiving messages about your metrics…

I see forecasting as anti-bullshit technology: - It gives you truthseeking incentives - You communicate your uncertainty as a probability, which is way clearer (70% is better than “probably”) - You can aggregate forecasts to get wisdom of the crowd effects - You can see everyone’s track record, and pay more attention to people who are consistently accurate I’m a fan of prediction markets [0] and forecasting platforms [1]. But predictions on…
