I noticed there wasn't any and wrote a small wrapper around ChatGPT. I found myself using ChatGPT to code and generate documentation, but copy and paste is a bit difficult. Emacs integration makes it extensible with custom prompts and all, based on region selected.

What I thought would take me weeks in development, took me months, but it's finally out. When ChatGPT API came out in March, my first idea of what to build with it was a spotlight-like app for my mac. The product was ready in a matter of days, but making it useful and sellable to people via some kind of distribution platform was another challenge. ChatIDE is a sort of a DIY Github copilot X. Launch ChatIDE with a `Cmd + Shift + i`. You bring your own OpenAI api key. You can set the system prompt, temperature, and max tokens in the extension settings. The extension is currently not aware of any of the files in your project, although that might be cool to add later. Use it just like you would use ChatGPT in the browser.
