Hi HN, I’ve released a new version of chess-tui, a Rust terminal UI for playing live games against Lichess opponents. The update includes a cleaner TUI, better performance, improved keybindings, and smoother real-time integration with the Lichess API. We built ChessBoss at the TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon this week. I made a website where you can play chess puzzles against Stockfish! When playing puzzles, neither Lichess nor Chess.com will accept a wrong move, which in my opinion spoils the resolution of the puzzle since only correct moves allow you to keep playing. So, I had the idea for a website where you can play chess puzzles, but if you make the wrong move, the puzzle turns into a game against Stockfish. This opens the door to either find alternative solutions or fail miserably (at some point you realize you are not following the puzzle any more). I think its a more engaging way to play puzzles!…

Hi, this is my first HN submission so please forgive the rough edges. For this project gathered chess positions from some well-known chess players with a lot of games. (Usually ~25k games and 1M+ positions. The most for any player was GM Aman Hambleton with 1.8M positions indexed.) With each board position I create a probability distribution of moves the player has made from that position. Then, I simply draw from that distribution (with sampling temperature) to choose a move.
