Products that do what ClipboardShield – A Clipboard Firewall for Windows (FOSS) does
I’d like to introduce ClipboardShield [1], a free open-source clipboard firewall for Windows 10/11. It helps protect against clipboard hijacking attacks [2], where malicious apps silently read or modify clipboard contents (e.g., replacing copied cryptocurrency addresses to modify the recipient and steal user’s funds or stealing sensitive data like passwords). How it works: - Define rules to allow or block clipboard access for specific apps. - Prevent unauthorized apps from reading or modifying clipboard contents. - Open-source and community-driven – contributions are welcome! - Since…

We are longtime members of HN and this is our only submission requesting feedback from the HN community on our product, Clipboard which we have been developing for the past year. Clipboard is a service to save anything online using a bookmarklet or browser extension (think Dropbox for content on the web). Clipboard is built using open source technologies, including Riak, Redis, NGINX, Node.js, and jQuery. One of our core differentiators is how we preserve the visual look and functionality of the original source, which is evident in the sample clips from github here:…

Hey HN I built a tool called ClipCapsule, a clipboard manager for Linux that's designed to be entirely keyboard-driven. Here’s what it does: Lets you recall and paste previous clipboard entries using just CTRL + SHIFT + 1~9. Keeps a history of everything you copy, in a local database. Moves selected items to the top of the clipboard stack (so CTRL + V pastes it). Built with Go + WailsJS for a fast native feel. No cloud. No telemetry. No fluff. Right now, you’ll need to run it with sudo or allow access to /dev/input/eventX for keyboard capture. We’re working on a proper daemon…

Hey HN, As a Software Engineer, I frequently copy and paste content. The fact that macOS clipboard buffer can keep only one item is very frustrating. It’s very annoying to copy → switch app → paste → switch app → copy → switch app → paste, and so on. Losing items I copied hours ago and having to find and copy them again is a waste of time. I tried many third-party clipboard managers like Alfred, Raycast, Paste, Maccy, etc. While great, they didn't fully meet my needs. As a developer, my requirements are: 1. Keyboard-centric operation to avoid using the mouse. I don’t want to waste my time…

Clipboard Plus is a Windows utility to view and manage the Windows clipboard. Download : https://github.com/oormicreations/ClipboardPlus/releases It maintains and can display up to five copied items or clips. Clicking on a clip loads it back into the clipboard and it is ready for pasting into another application. You can clear or save individual clips or all clips by clicking on the corresponding menu items. You can edit the clips and open urls directly from the clipboard plus. The clips can be added to sticky clips, which is like a built in sticky notes with…

I’m Gopal, the guy behind QuickClip. I built this out of pure frustration. Copying items between my phone and laptop was very painful. Sending notes and links on WhatsApp. Saving random drafts I’d forget about. It was total waste of time. So I made QuickClip for myself first. A dead simple way to move text, links and images between devices instantly. No setup drama. No thinking. Fully encrypted I use it every day. Shipping it publicly now to see if anyone else has the same problem. Would honestly love to hear, how you move stuff between devices today, what’s broken or slow and what would…

Hey HN, Clipboard managers handle sensitive data such as passwords, personal notes, API keys, etc. To trust one you need to be sure that it doesn't send your data to third parties or store it on remote servers. With closed-source apps, you have to take the developer’s word for it. As a software engineer, I don't like that. Transparency matters. So, I decided to make my commercial clipboard manager open source. Anyone can inspect the source code, verify that data stays local and never leaves the user's device. Anyone can build the app from source and use it. At the same time, the app is still…

I built a small desktop tool called PasteClean to solve a personal annoyance: sharing URLs filled with tracking garbage (utm_source, fbclid, etc.). It runs in the background and automatically cleans URLs in your clipboard when you copy them. It handles 50+ tracking parameters and can also unshorten links (bit.ly, t.co) to reveal the destination and clean them before pasting. Tech stack is Electron/React/TypeScript. The core privacy features are free. I added a "Pro" lifetime license for some advanced features (unshortening, batch mode) to support development.
