Dear HN, I am Riwaj, the cofounder of dstack.ai (https://github.com/dstackai). A few months ago, we built an online service that allows users to publish data visualizations from Python or R. The idea was to build a tool that did not require additional programming or front-end development for publishing data visualizations. Such a code can be invoked from either Jupyter notebook, RMarkdown, Python, or R scripts. Once the data is pushed, it can be accessed via a browser. Open-sourcing dstack: During our customer discovery phase, we realized that dstack.ai should integrate a lot…

Hi there Hacker News, I've started a side project http://datasourcehub.com which aims to be a platform for data scientists. The project is still in the idea phase so the UI/UX and functionality are all subject to change. Feel free to play around, below is a guest login, and make sure files are content type of 'text/csv'. All data is subject to deletion, it's just a sandbox right now! By reaching out to the Hacker News community I hope to reach expert data scientists and get their feedback. Below are some questions I'd like to answer and some proposed directions that this…

Hey HN! I'm Guy, one of the creators of DAGsHub. We help data scientists track experiments and version their code, data & models using Git. We're committed to building on open source protocols and improving the user experience on top of them - in this case, DVC. We've built capabilities on top of it like visually interacting with your pipeline, creating data pull requests, browsing data files etc. One thing we kept running into is users being challenged by setting up the cloud environment necessary, to push their data to AWS S3, GCS (which we support), and other DVC remotes. Since our focus…

Hello HN, I am Sonal, a data consultant from India. For the past few months(and years!), I have been working on an entity resolution tool to build a single source of truth for customers, suppliers, products and parts. Here is a short demo of Zingg in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOabyZxN9b0 As a data consultant, I often struggled to build unified views of core entities on the datalake and the warehouse. Data spread across different systems has variations and consistencies making Customer 360, KYC, AML, segmentation, personalization and other analytics difficult. As I…

Hello HN. We're happy to show to the world a platform that we've created to help our students get started with Data Science: https://notebooks.rmotr.com/ We know how hard it is to start working with Data Science tools: setting up local environment, installing dependencies, keeping projects organized, etc. RMOTR Notebooks has Jupyter Lab already preinstalled + the ability to upload datasets. Our platform is now open to everybody for free, and we are thinking about adding paid tiers in the future with better hardware, GPU support, pro features, etc. We've also worked on a…

Hi HN, We are launching Denormalized (www.denormalized.io), a serverless real-time data platform built on Kafka and Pinot. We felt a bit burnt out by the sheer developer toil we faced when building application around the real-time data stack and set out to create a platform to allow small teams to be very productive with realtime data without having to glue together an elaborate system to serve real-time as well as time series queries. Here is our motivating post. Would appreciate any and all feedback.

Hi HN community, Shen and I created a service for anyone to easily train deep learning model on GPU power harnessed from the crowd. We have completed the first version DeepCluster.io (http://deepcluster.io) and welcome ML researchers to try it out for free! We are enthusiastic of deep learning, but often found training models with GPU instances on AWS very expensive. Meanwhile, some of our friends have idle GPUs that are used to mine cryptos. So we decided to borrow their GPUs for training deep learning model ourselves, and believe this could be a service that benefits other ML…

I'd like to announce the latest public beta release of Hobson - an open-source IoT platform that promotes ease-of-use and has no cloud dependencies. It is free, multi-platform and supports various devices, services and protocols through a powerful plugin system. It can be used by end-users to control various consumer smart devices or by IoT developers as a foundation for their own solutions. I encourage anyone that is interested to check out Hobson's website and give it a try. It is under active development and feedback and suggestions are encouraged. http://www.hobson-automation.com

Hello Hacker News community! I'm currently working in financial risk management within the banking sector, and I began my career as a Data Science specialist. For quite some time, my friend and I have been developing a small pet project just for fun. This tool has repeatedly helped us save time when testing various hypotheses and machine learning models. The core idea is to combine different scripts—created in various programming languages and virtual environments—within a minimalist graphical interface. Whether you're building models, running a local neural network, or sending requests to…
