24 alternatives to Codala, a social network built on scanning barcodes
Hi HN. I poured months into making a mobile app called Codala, but sadly, it's getting practically zero downloads. I have no marketing budget at all. I'm starting to question if the app is just bad, but the core idea feels solid to me: you scan any QR code or barcode, and it opens up a space to chat, leave reviews, and discuss that specific product or place. I know the app needs users leaving comments to feel alive, but it's been 3 weeks and things are dead quiet. If you want to take a look, I’m totally open to any feedback or honesty. It's only available on Google Play for now

Hi HN, I built this out of frustration of the evergrowing list of AI models and features to try and to fit my workflow. The visual approach clicks for me so i went with it, it provides more freedom and control of the outcome, because predictable results and increased productivity is what I’m after when using conversational AI. The app is packed with features, my most used are prompt library, voice input and text search, narration is useful too. The app is local-first and works right in the browser, no sign up needed and it's absolutely free to try. BYOAK – bring your own API Keys. Let me…

GPTRecap▲134I always loved seeing my Spotify Wrapped every year and wondered why doesn’t ChatGPT have something similar? So I built GPTRecap: paste your exported file and instantly see your top topics, total messages, and more. All core features run 100% in your browser, no account, no data stored. Premium insights (like deeper topic analysis) are processed via OpenAI, but nothing is saved on our servers. Would love feedback! What stats would you want to see next?

A simple mobile web app inspired by Fuzzy-Search/realtime-bakllava that uses llama.cpp server backend with multimodal mode to describe and narrate what the phone camera sees. I built this thing in a few hours using a single ChatGPT thread to generate most things for me and iterate on this project. I read HN on my phone every day and never really settled on a reader, so I wrote my own and finally tidied it up enough to put out there. It's plain SwiftUI with no third-party dependencies. A few things I spent the most time on: Comments are parsed and drawn as native text instead of being dumped into a web view. Links, italics, quotes and code blocks behave like the rest of the OS, text selection works, and threads collapse instantly. The whole comment tree comes back from the Algolia API in a single request, which felt a lot nicer than walking the Firebase API node by node. Accessibility.…

I've built this PWA to use ChatGPT by API. My main motivation was to use the API since it is much cheaper than the premium plan and I only pay for usage. The main inspiration was ChatGPT-web by Niek [1], but I was lacking time to dig into the code base to make changes. Hence I went for a lightweight approach with Alpine.js and Open Props. There is no build step, the dependencies are fetched via CDN. In general it was much fun to work with Alpine.js - being a parent means having very little time. So it was great to not have to invest 20h into learning a new framework. My main ask was…

ChatSEO▲56I built this after getting frustrated with digging through Google Search Console tables and exports just to decide what to work on next to do the SEO of my first project (recipe mobile app). ChatSEO connects to Google Search Console and lets you ask questions in plain language (e.g. pages close to page 1, keywords losing traction, or what actions are likely to have the biggest impact). Under the hood, it combines GSC data with external keyword and SERP data to prioritize SEO actions instead of just showing dashboards. It’s still early: onboarding is basic, recommendations can be noisy, and…

I’ve been playing around with local LLMs for the past couple of months and decided to build something that can run on an iPhone. It’s a universal app built with SwiftUI and the excellent ggml library. The model is an SFT fine tuned and 4 bit quantised version of the RedPajama-INCITE-Chat-3B-v1 OSS LLM. It works reasonably well on recent-ish (~3 year old) iPhones, iPads and Macs. It was launched on the App Store yesterday[1] and Product Hunt today[2]. It seems to be reasonably ok at natural language interactions, but given its size, does pretty badly at coding and reasoning. Also, it…

Built a small free widget that is a ChatGPT-powered search bar for your site. You can use it on your blog, guides, docs, and resources pages. It crawls and indexes your site and then answers search queries with questions using your site content as a source. It even references the source material so visitors can dig deeper. It also has memory so you can have repeat searches just like ChatGPT. Built with Langchain, Pinecone, and OpenAI.

Hey HN, This is a Show HN (poorly) disguised as an Ask HN. I'm launching https://www.parliant.ai, a survey tool that rethinks how surveys are created and answered. Instead of building forms, the survey creator just writes what they want to learn and AI takes it from there, chatting with respondents to get meaningful answers. To show how it works, I’ve created a short demo survey with the question in the title. The idea is for you to try it out and see the respondent experience, which is really the core of the innovation. I’d love to get your answers and your feedback. The survey is…
