Since everyone seems to be making a github application, I thought I'd share mine. It's an aggregated view of all of a given person's github projects, as well as easyish lookups for linkedin/stackoverflow/hackernews. It attempts to determine both productivity (how much code did this person write?) as well as impact (did anyone care?) I'd love any feedback, but go easy on the number of simultaneous searches as I'm trying to play nice by github's api limits. check it -- http://www.gitalytics.com

For the past 4 years, I've been tracking the install counts of AI coding extensions in the Visual Studio Code marketplace (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, etc.) Today, I built an interactive dashboard that lets you see daily install counts for any of them over time. The chart shows GitHub Copilot by default, and you can overlay or swap in any of the other 20+ tools to compare. You can also see important dates in each tool's history (pricing changes, major releases, etc.) and how daily installs changed around those dates. Important caveats: 1) This only tracks VS Code extension…

All— Lazy Sundays are for fun vibe coding, and this particular weekend, I decided to play around with the GitHub API. Ended up building this little app: GitHub Detective. It fetches the latest activity of a user, but in a nice way—you can filter by categories like PRs, issues, comments, etc., and easily navigate to them. You can also generate a sarcastic analysis of the user based on their activity, then download and share it with friends. :)

I was frustrated with how bad a signal of progress through a big PR "Files viewed" was, so I made a "Lines viewed" indicator to complement it. Designed to look like a stock Github UI element - even respects light/dark theme. Runs fully locally, no API calls. Splits insertions and deletions by default, but you can also merge them into a single "lines" figure in the settings.
