24 alternatives to Dendrite, a golang log parser
Dendrite adds all your logs to a single structured log stream, so you can search, graph, and analyze easier. - omc/dendrite
Dendrite is a Go-based log parser that consolidates logs from multiple sources into a single structured stream. It enables users to search, graph, and analyze log data more efficiently by centralizing diverse log… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Over the past few months, we've been building Prism; a fast, developer-first observability UI that's deeply integrated with our open-source database, Parseable. Prism is designed for engineers who debug distributed systems, sometimes at odd hours, and need answers right now, without having to deal with five different tools. Backstory: We spoke to dozens of observability practitioners in large enterprises. Across the board, we heard two things: (1)The RoI on observability tools is hard to justify. (2)OSS leads to tool sprawl, metrics in Grafana, logs in ELK, traces… somewhere. We wanted a…

We built Gonzo to make log analysis faster and friendlier in the terminal. Think of it like k9s for logs — a TUI that can ingest JSON, text, or OpenTelemetry (OTLP) logs, highlight and boil up patterns, and even run AI models locally or via API to summarize logs. We’re still iterating, so ideas and contributions are welcome!

Hey everyone! I’m working on Telescope - an open-source web-based log viewer designed to make working with logs stored in ClickHouse easier and more intuitive. I wasn’t happy with existing log viewers - most of them force a specific log format, are tied to ingestion pipelines, or are just a small part of a larger platform. Others didn’t display logs the way I wanted. So I decided to build my own lightweight, flexible log viewer - one that actually fits my needs. Check it out: Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IItMOXwugY GitHub:…

Hey HN, I'm Adithya, a 20-year-old dev from India. I have been working with GenAI for the past year, and I've found it really painful to deal with the many different forms of data out there and get the best representation of it for my AI applications. That's why I built OmniParse—an open-source platform designed to handle any unstructured data and transform it into optimized, structured representations. Key Features: - Completely local processing—no external APIs - Supports ~20 file types - Converts documents, multimedia, and web pages to high-quality structured markdown - Table extraction,…

Hey guys, I'm building erlog to try and solve problems with logging. While trying to add logs to my application, I couldn't find any lightweight log platform which was easy to set up without adding tons of dependencies to my code, or configuring 10,000 files. ErLog is just a simple go web server which batch inserts json logs into an sqlite3 server. Through tuning sqlite3 and batching inserts, I find I can get around 8k log insertions/sec which is fast enough for small projects. This is just an MVP, and I plan to add more features once I talk to users. If anyone has any problems with…

Hey hn! I'm one of the co-founders of highlight.io, an open source monitoring tool. Today we're sharing a ClickHouse-based logging solution we've been working on. We wanted to showcase how we built it and share how you could try it out to give feedback. Since we started working on highlight.io, we've been hyper-focused on "cohesion", or ensuring that when you install your monitoring stack, all of the resources in that stack (user interactions, requests, traces, logs, etc.) are connected in a consumable way. We've written up more about our philosophy on this here [1]. We started building…

Founder here, Parseable is a lightweight log ingestion and query engine written in Rust. Parseable can ingest data from existing logging agents (FluentBit, LogStash, Vector, syslog-ng and more) using HTTP + JSON output. Ingested logs are stored as semi-indexed Parquet files (on disk or S3). You can query the data with builtin query engine using SQL or use a query engines of choice like Spark, Presto, Trino and so on. We also developed a Grafana data source plugin that lets you visualise log data via Grafana. Sample dashboard link in readme. As log data grew, our industry has responded with…

Hey HN! Over the past few months, I've been working on building Omni - a workplace search and chat platform that connects to apps like Google Drive/Gmail, Slack, Confluence, etc. Essentially an open-source alternative to Glean, fully self-hosted. I noticed that some orgs find Glean to be expensive and not very extensible. I wanted to build something that small to mid-size teams could run themselves, so I decided to build it all on Postgres (ParadeDB to be precise) and pgvector. No Elasticsearch, or dedicated vector databases. I figured Postgres is more than capable of handling the level…

I built a Rust-based CLI/terminal UI for inspecting Parquet files—data, metadata, and row-group-level structure—right from the terminal. If someone sent me a Parquet file, I used to open DuckDB or Polars just to see what was inside. Now I can do it with one command. Repo: https://github.com/kaushiksrini/parqeye

For write once, read many, immutable data types, Parquet on S3 is one of the most economical and scale approach. Every organisation I have talked to, in the last few years has attempted some form of Parquet on S3 implementation. However, these initiatives face challenges in standardising the approach for both ingesting and querying the data. Data quality, data governance and access control - everything becomes a challenge. We at Parseable are taking the Parquet on S3 approach and making it into an Enterprise grade product. Integrate easily with existing log agents and libraries. Built-in…
