We are working on an open-source .docx editor library for apps that need to edit Word documents in the browser. We just shipped 1.0. A lot of existing approaches convert .docx into HTML and lose document semantics along the way. Our editor parses OOXML directly and uses its own rendering+layout engine to produce paged documents with html/css. Edits round-trip back to .docx, so you’re always editing the document, not its representation. The core rendering engine is framework agnostic, with React and Vue ui adapters on top. It’s Apache 2.0. Happy to answer questions.

Our team at Clym built an open-source Accessibility Testing tool to help developers and auditors identify and fix web accessibility issues, combining automated and manual testing in one place. Our tool integrates the open-source axe-core[1] library for automated testing against WCAG 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 and EN 301 549 standards. For issues that automation can't reliably detect, it includes manual review workflows that guide testers through contextual checks (like keyboard navigation and visual contrast validation). It can also generate Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) in multiple formats…

US counties must make their PDFs accessible by 26 April 2027. We drew a random sample of 100 US counties, harvested 941 documents from their public portals, and found 58.1% have no tag tree at all - meaning a screen reader gets no headings, no reading order, and no table structure.

hey hn, i’m alana, founder of basecase and creator of docbase www.getdocbase.com docbase is an open-source alternative to docsend, which lets you securely share documents and track engagement in real-time. with docbase, you can upload any document, get a secure link (with or without a password or expiration date), and view who interacts with it and when. one main use case is for founders to send their memos/decks to potential investors. as a founder and investor myself, it’s a tool i use all the time to both send and receive pitch documents. the idea came from a tweet [0], which…
