I'm sick and tired of clicking interesting links on the HN front page, only to get a spinning loader and waiting 10+ seconds for nothing. I'm not going to take the time to find the Google cache for your site, so if you want me to read what you wrote, please consider doing at least the bare minimum to keep your site running when I visit: 1. I've always taken it for granted that HN contained useful information that I'd be able to retrieve whenever I found the need, but this has brought me up short. I was lucky enough to have my site trending on Friday (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25872922). It’s an icon site that lists open source icons. I wanted to share some stats on the results after 3 days. Worth noting was that I submitted it on a Friday morning (at which point I went for a walk and a coffee; eek). - 24,997 page views. After seeing the ReadWriteWeb article on findhisporn.com (http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/find_his_porn_evil_website_of_the_week.php), my instant reaction was to build something to counter that. I spent the weekend building the app, but had to wait another week to get my payment system set up. The site is http://www.hideyourporn.net/ (completely safe for work site) as well as a more generic http://www.personallocker.net/ which is what the app is branded at. There aren't any reliable free broken link checkers out there, so I decided to create one. Right now, it is a Python script that can be run on any platform. HNping lets you set a reminder for a HN post. You get a web push browser notification when it's time, and clicking it takes you back to the post. That's it. It it always bugged me when I read or share an article, the discussion lives separately from the article. I imagined being able to add Google-Docs or Notion style comments on any website. We save a snapshot of the website and allow adding discussions that live side-by-side and directly reference parts of the article.
