A little while back I remember seeing a user on a certain anonymous imageboard asking for an invite to a selective email host. Only after a few minutes did the guy realize the perplexity of the situation. How do you insure against a race condition in a public forum with no way to direct message? Luckily, he nabbed the invite code, but it got me thinking about using PGP to provide a solution. This is meant to be a rough PoC and the UX is definitely not ready for the average Joe, but the functionality I'd like to think is there. Enc is a CLI tool for encryption, a modern and friendly alternative to GnuPG. It is easy to use, secure by default and can encrypt and decrypt files using password or encryption keys, manage and download keys, and sign data. Our goal was to make encryption available to all engineers without the need to learn a lot of new words, concepts, and commands. After developing a client-side encryption plugin for the Uppy uploader (https://github.com/0sumcode/uppy-encrypt), I created a proof of concept web app that encrypts files before upload (and decrypts them after download). There are other solutions like this, but I wanted one that was simple, fast, and open-source (https://github.com/0sumcode/0up) so others can adapt it for any projects that could benefit from it.
