Hi HN, I built Ephe, open-source markdown paper for daily todos and thoughts. No sign-up, no ads, no subscriptions, no AI. ## Why I made this We have plenty of Markdown editors. And too many overwhelming to-do apps. But few tools combine both in a way that’s lightweight and focused. I thought that all I need is a single page to organize today. So I built Ephe. It uses CodeMirror v6, React(v19, React Compiler) and Vite with rolldown. ## What makes it different “Ephe” comes from ephemeral. The main goal is to organize what you need to do today. It isn’t for teams. It’s a quiet space for your…

So, me (dev) and my friend (designer) have been building a website/mobile app to help users manage their game library (think MyAnimeList, but games) for a little over a year. We launched with a very basic set of features, and have been slowing expanding since then. All the code is open source, and most of the things we implemented were direct feedback from users (e.g. being able to import games from Steam/PSN, and the Posts feature). I started browsing the internet for ideas but got bored and wasted time on social media. I noticed that in the comment sections of anime clips, many people were asking for the anime name and episode. That's when I thought, "Let's make an anime reverse search engine," and boom, Cleithral was born. Just upload a video, image, or gif, and it will give you…

I'm a long time lurker that recently quit my job to work on my own projects, a lot due to the inspiration from Hacker News. Now I have published my first serious project, an app for learning how to write Japanese characters. It's the app I always wanted but couldn't find when I was studying. It tries to be simple to use, you just start the quiz and go with the flow. There's no need to plan and manage your studies, and it uses spaced repetition for better retention. There's a promo page with more details up at http://www.kanjibyhand.com. It's only for Android so far. The free version includes…

Me and my friend built an unique content based Recommendation System, where user can just select Anime or write synopsis and our system will find the most similar anime available. We used Qdrant Vector Database for the Recommendations. Other Features includes, Streaming, Custom watchlist creation and sharing of watchlists.
