Hey everyone, After my first macOS app launch DockFlow, a few months ago, And the great support I got from this form, I am glad to announce my new product, ExtraDock! ExtraDock lets macOS users create multiple docks and place them wherever they want. It was designed to solve the struggle of having a single dock to serve a multi-monitor setup. Docks are fully customizable - colors, blur, opacity, border, etc. You can also add custom Widgets such as Spacers, Dividers, Clocks, and even cool widgets such as IP Address (always to show your external IP, great for VPN), or Stripe Dashboard Widget…

Hey HN! So the other day macOS dock system pissed me off, completely. I’m someone who runs 2 or 3 monitors daily: one for coding, one for chat apps, and one for design tools. But macOS only gives you a single Dock, which either stays on your main screen or auto-swaps wherever your mouse is. Complete hell. I just wanted an easy way to keep a “chat dock” on my side monitor, a “development dock” on my center monitor, and maybe another “utilities dock” somewhere else—without messing with some complex, heavy, bloated dock replacement. So I made one. And got feedback from my friends that it's…

Hey Hacker News The ones that know me here know that I am a productivity geek. After DockFlow to manage my Dock and ExtraDock, which gives me more space to manage my apps and files, I decided to tackle the macOS big boss: the menu bar. I spend ~40% of my day context-switching between apps — Zoom meetings, Slack channels, Code projects, and Figma designs. My macOS menu bar has too many useless icons I almost never use. So I thought to myself, how can I use this area to improve my workflows? Most solutions (Bartender, Ice) require screen recording permissions, and did not really solve my…

Hi HN! I recently switched from a Fedora/GNOME laptop to a MacBook Air. My old setup served me well as a portable workstation, but I’ve started traveling more while working remotely and needed something with similar performance but better battery life. The main thing I missed was a simple taskbar that shows the windows in the current workspace instead of a Dock that mixes everything together. I built boringBar so I would not have to use the Dock. It shows only the windows in the current Space, lets you switch Spaces by scrolling on the bar, and adds a desktop switcher so you can jump…

I built DockFlow after constantly rearranging my macOS Dock when switching between coding, designing, or writing tasks. macOS only supports one Dock layout, and every context switch felt like wasted time and broken focus. DockFlow solves this by letting you save multiple Dock presets and switch between them instantly, all without complex setup or bloat. Key features: - Save and switch between multiple Dock configurations - Assign custom hotkeys to change layouts instantly - Add apps, folders, files, or links to your Dock - Insert visual spacers to group items - Lightweight and macOS-native…
