My dad and I had a little idea to build a movie site, where the movies are tagged by what feelings they evoke instead of just genres. This was influenced by how playlists are tagged on 8tracks, and how game levels are tagged in LittleBigPlanet. We threw something functional together, and would like to get some feedback on the idea/site. It allows anyone to tag movies with a variety of adjectives, and for a user to search by them. We've been working on a custom engineered collaborative filtering algorithm not only to recommend movies for one person but for several to watch together, at the same time. We're still in closed beta but would love to get feedback before launching.

Last week I released Moodflix (https://moodflix.streamlit.app), a movie recommendation engine based to find movies based on your mood. Moodflix was created on top of a movie dataset of 10k movies from The Movie Database. I vectorised the films using Hugging Face's T5 model (https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/model_doc/t5) using the film's plot synopsis, genres and languages. I've often wondered whether there are any patterns or cycles to my moods so I built a simple iPhone app that occasionally pings me to ask how I'm feeling on a scale of 1 - 10. I also note down what I'm thinking or doing at that moment and automatically grab my location. I use the data to show some basic statistics on how I've been feeling on average over the past three days, past week and since I started tracking. There's also a graph of my moods over time.
