Hi HN, Every year, we ask thousands of readers (and authors) to share their 3 favorite reads of the year. Now you can enter a book/author you love and see what books readers loved who also loved that book/author. Background: I want better recommendations based on my reading history. I'm incredibly frustrated with what is out there. This system is based on 5,000 readers voting on their 3 favorite reads…

Hey HN! I love finding new books to read on here. I wanted to gather the most mentioned books and recreate the serendipity of physical browsing. I scraped 20k comments from HN threads related to reading, extracted the references and opinions using GPT-4o mini, and visualised their embeddings as a map. - OpenAI's embeddings were processed using UMAP and HDBSCAN. A direct 2D projection from the text embeddings didn't yield visually interesting results. Instead, HDBSCAN is first applied on a high-dimensional projection. Hey HN! I'd love to get some people to mess around with a little side project I built to teach myself DSPy! I've been a big fan of reading fiction + webnovels for a while now, and have always been curious about two things: how can LLMs iteratively learn to write better based on reader feedback, and which LLMs are actually best at creative writing (research benchmarks are cool, but don't necessarily translate to real-world usage). That's exactly why I built narrator.sh! The platform takes in a user input for a novel idea, then generates serialized fiction chapter-by-chapter by using DSPy to…

for decades, i have been concerned that the internet was being built around non-fiction, so i built something to show how we could celebrate great fiction on the web. i started with an amazing library from the public domain, and i also added tools to add your own stories super interested to hear any feedback, and if you read anything good!
