Products that do what Flowscape – A developer-first 2D canvas engine with full scene control does
Hi HN, I’ve been working on Flowscape, a 2D canvas engine focused on building interactive editors and visual tools. It provides low-level control over scenes, nodes, and interactions without enforcing a specific UI or workflow. The goal is to give developers a flexible foundation for custom editors, diagrams, and canvas-based interfaces. I’d love feedback on the API design, architecture, and real-world use cases. For the last 5 years I've been working on a layout engine that targets CSS2 and some more modern properties. Live demo: https://chearon.github.io/dropflow/ It matches browsers in all cases I can find where they agree, and it's fast. It supports `position`, `inline-block`, `z-index`, and complex properties like `float` and `vertical-align`. It doesn't support high-level layout like flexbox or grid yet, but you can get intrinsics to easily divide space yourself and paint multiple layout trees. It has a great text layout implementation, and supporting non-Latin scripts is a…

Hello HN, It has been a while since I contributed to the web, so I decided to get back in shape and publish "something". This app is a POC of "what if diagrams were more dynamic". I'm a software engineer by trade, and with conventional tools, I often times struggle to explain flows of data in complex software systems. I got inspired by video games like The Incredible Machine and Factorio, as in some ways, software systems tend to become Rube Goldberg-esque machines ;) As a side quest, I also wanted to craft diagrams faster than text-based tools (ex: mermaid), as I am always forgetting their…

Hey HN! I’m Gabriel, and I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on for the last few years. Flowcode is a visual programming platform that tries to combine the best of both worlds (code and visual). Over the years I found myself repeatedly drawing architectures and logic. It was always my dream to just press “run” instead of having to write them in code afterwards. But none of the visual tools I found were flexible and transparent enough for building real products. I think that visual programming fits perfectly with modern backend dev tasks that revolve around connecting different…

Modd.io is a collaborative game editor that runs in browser. It's kind of like Figma for game dev. We made this engine low-code and multiplayer-first, so developeres can quickly prototype casual multiplayer games. I hope some of you guys will find this useful. Would love to hear feedback also. Thank you. Engine Demo: https://www.modd.io
