24 alternatives to Generate styled web pages with just Python

There are a lot of Python to web app frameworks going around these days but I wanted something that was a little more lightweight that just generates HTML pages and can be embedded in Flask or other Python web servers incrementally. PyVibe uses Python components to construct a page with styling that you can use in Flask, in a static site, or even in Pyodide.

PyVibe is a lightweight Python library that generates styled HTML pages through Python components. It allows developers to build web pages incrementally and integrate them into Flask, other Python web servers, static… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi, today I launched Pagy, a website builder that works like Notion. It’s currently limited to one-page websites but I’m planning to add support for multiple pages soon. I’ve been working on this for over a year and half on the side, and recently quit my job to go full-time on it. The front-end is built on React and Next.js, running on Vercel, and I’m using Slate.js for the editor. The back-end is a Ruby on Rails API, running on Render. Would love to hear your thoughts and happy to answer any questions.

Hello, we just launched the alpha release of Pynecone - a way to build full-stack web apps in pure Python. The framework is easy to get started with even without previous web dev experience and is completely open source / free to use. We made Pynecone for Python devs who want to make web apps, but don’t want the overhead of having to learn or use Javascript. We wanted more flexibility than existing Python frameworks like Streamlit/Dash that don't allow the user to make real, customizable web apps. With Pynecone, you can make anything from a small data science/python project to…

Hello HN, I'm releasing Hyperdiv (https://hyperdiv.io), a framework for rapidly developing reactive browser UIs in Python, with immediate-mode syntax and using Shoelace (https://shoelace.style) as its built-in component system. This short coding video will give you a good idea of what it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XJKfxaqvGE I wrote a brief article about the motivation and approach: https://hyperdiv.io/intro.html Hyperdiv doesn't aim to compete with serious full-stack frameworks. The core aim was to make it easy and fast to…

I recently stripped out Django from my personal site and converted it to a static site, using `staticjinja`. I found myself writing a lot of custom code to get my site going because I wanted to use Jinja templating inside Markdown. Once I was done, I decided to strip out `staticjinja` in favour of my own site generator. And so Jinjabread was born!

Hey HN, I’m Jimmy, co-founder of Dropbase (https://www.dropbase.io). We are an internal tools builder for Python developers. All you have to do is import any Python scripts/libraries, declare UI components, and layer app permissions so you can share them with others. We’re a middle ground between Airplane and Retool—simpler UI creation than Airplane, more code-centered than Retool. UI building is declarative and you can bind Python scripts/functions to UI components. You can write Python scripts/functions using our App Studio with support from a Python Language…

Hi everyone, I built PlutoPrint because I needed a simple way to generate beautiful PDFs and images directly from HTML with Python. Most of the tools I tried felt heavy, tricky to set up, or produced results that didn’t look great, so I wanted something lightweight, modern, and fast. PlutoPrint is built on top of PlutoBook’s rendering engine, which is designed for paged media, and then wrapped with a Python API that makes it easy to turn HTML or XML into crisp PDFs and PNGs. I’ve used it for things like invoices, reports, tickets, and even snapshots, and it can also integrate with Matplotlib…

Hi all! A little background: I've been working on natto.dev, a spatial environment for JavaScript. I'm really excited about new interfaces for code (leveraging metaphors we're good at, spatial reasoning, making state visible, design tools, etc). With all the buzz around PyScript, I discovered Pyodide and got it working inside natto. This Python version is a stripped down version of https://natto.dev (eg interactive outputs, multiplayer) so please check that out if this interests you. I'm excited to share this spatial environment for Python. Imagine Jupyter cells arranged on a 2D…
