Hi all, I'm currently working on my hobby project, and one of the fun constraints I put in was to build using as less dependencies as possible. I chose Go as it has a really good standard library, and all went well for building backend. But for frontend, I was wondering whether I should break the constraint and go for React. I tried options like Web Components, but I really didn't like the ergonomics and I didn't want to use jQuery either. Out of curiosity, I was exploring Go's html/template package to see if I can write UIs in a React-like manner. I found most of the online docs using…

Hey everyone! I just released v1.0.0 of gomponents last week. It's an HTML component builder in pure Go, with a DSL-like HTML syntax. It's been 4 years in the making, and makes it really easy to build HTML in your web apps.

Hey HN, I recently found myself needing a quick way to preview HTML and SVG code without having to copy it into an IDE, save it, and then open it in a browser. ChatGPT's new canvas feature is great for generating code, but it doesn't provide a way to preview HTML directly. To solve this, I made a small bookmarklet that allows you to instantly preview HTML from your clipboard in a new tab. Just copy your HTML, click the bookmarklet, and it will render immediately. It's a simple tool, but it’s saved me a lot of repetitive steps, and I figured it might help others too. The bookmarklet code and…

Hey HN! While building our own SaaS we kept running into the same problem: customers wanted a real design editor (think Canva/Figma-lite) *inside* their product, but rebuilding all that UI from scratch is a quarter-million-dollar distraction. So we turned our internal tool into *Templated Embed* — a drop-in image & PDF template editor you can add to any web app with an tag. - What it does? • Full WYSIWYG editor for text, images, SVGs, brand colours, Google Fonts • Outputs static images (PNG/JPG), layered PDFs, or keeps the design JSON so you can re-render via API • Multi-page +…

Hey all, I just wanted to share a project I've been working on for the past month. After years of heavy frameworks, I really like the idea of using htmx, but it’s a little too low level for me and needs a thin layer above it to facilitate things like components, better syntax with complex JS inside of an attribute, etc To try and solve this problem with a very minimal stack (golang + htmx) that I've been really enjoying, I'm building this project to cater to my needs and was thinking it would be useful for other developers.

XRss is a simple RSS reader web app built to showcase xtemplate, a new web development tool based on Go's html/template and Caddy server. The entire site UI for XRss comes from a single HTML template file. This index.html includes everything from SQL queries and route definitions and handlers to htmx state transition attributes and tailwindcss classes, and developing it requires zero build steps (amortized). Check out the source which manages to be at once banal and gnarly: https://github.com/infogulch/xrss/blob/master/templates/inde... xtemplate…

As a personal project I wrote a really tiny Wat 2 Wasm compiler in Go. Mainly for demonstrative and educational purposes. It was tough: I didn't know anything about WebAssembly internals and I'm a newbie with Go... so I tried to document it as much as I could for anyone that would like to approach the quest in the future! It misses a lot of features (that will be gradually implemented). Any feedback is welcomed!! Demo: https://luna-demo.vercel.app
