We just released a major upgrade to SigNoz with support for Logs management based on ClickHouse. Would love to get any feedback from the community here on what you think and any questions you may have for us Many big companies like Uber and Cloudflare have been shifting to ClickHouse as their main workhorse for Logs management seeing much better performance. for e.g Cloudflare recently shifted from Elastic to ClickHouse and are seeing 8x improvement in memory/cpu resource requirement in ingestion. This is our first release with Logs support and we have added support for: - Filtering…

I have been using plaintext accounting for some time and had a duct-taped together reporting system. Paisa is my latest attempt at making it usable for others. I am interested in knowing what people normally want to understand about their finances PS: Please avoid editing the demo data. Download and run locally if you want to edit.

Hey HN, Robert from Laminar (lmnr.ai) here. We built Index - new SOTA Open Source browser agent. It reached 92% on WebVoyager with Claude 3.7 (extended thinking). o1 was used as a judge, also we manually double checked the judge. At the core is same old idea - run simple JS script in the browser to identify interactable elements -> draw bounding boxes around them on a screenshot of a browser window -> feed it to the LLM. What made Index so good: 1. We essentially created browser agent observability. We patched Playwright to record the entire browser session while the agent operates,…

Hello HN! I am Aswin Mohan, full-stack mobile + web developer and I built PaperMoney(https://getpaper.money). PaperMoney is a double-entry accounting based personal finance app. It can help you keep track of your expenses, assets, liabilities and your net-worth. It is based on the command-line tools beancount and ledger. I had been using beancount to track my expenses for over two years. The plain-text accounting and reporting with fava was great, but I wanted a mobile based app to keep track on the go. Looked around existing solutions but everything fell short when compared to…

Hello, In addition to my studies in computer science, I have been working on a side project. I obtain data from the Unternehmensregister, a register where every German limited company is required to publish their financial statements. These statements are published as HTML files and are completely unstructured. While financial statements often look similar, companies are not required to follow a specific structure, which often leads to inconsistently formatted statements. The use of the Unternehmensregister is completely free, so you can check out some examples. I wrote code that converts…

As I couldn't find a proper web based open source tool that could help me with my bookkeeping, I spend a week to built one myself. It's based on laravel and provides revenue, expenses, travel allowance and depreciation sections. Everything is then merged to an annual statement, that can be exported as a pdf and used for tax filing. It's far away from perfect (no tests yet), but I would be happy to hear what you think about it and maybe find someone to join in.

Single Rust binary (~3 MB) that reads the OS accessibility tree and gives every UI element a REST endpoint. Click buttons, type text, toggle checkboxes — all via JSON. Works as an MCP server too, so Claude/Cursor/Windsurf can control any desktop app out of the box. Windows + Linux + macOS. MIT licensed.

Hey HN! I’m Karan, creator of Logchef (https://logchef.app), an open-source log viewer built specifically for exploring logs stored in ClickHouse. This tool grew directly out of my $day job managing massive log volumes. Like many orgs, we migrated our log workloads to ClickHouse for its performance, but found the ecosystem lacked dedicated UI tooling for actually browsing and analyzing those logs effectively. We were using Metabase, and while great for general BI, it wasn't designed for log exploration workflows. Common pain points included: - Clunky Ad-hoc Querying:…

finagg is a Python package and CLI that enables you to aggregate and update free financial data from a handful of high quality data sources all within your own SQL database. Here're some quick facts about it: - Implements nearly all of the BEA API, FRED API, and SEC EDGAR APIs (all of which have free and nearly unlimited data access) - Only focused on macrodata (no intraday data support) - Provides methods for transforming data from these APIs into normalized features that're readily useable for analysis, strategy development, and AI/ML - The most popular methods include getting…

This has been my pet project and playground for a long time and has gone throught several framework changes, overhauls, etc.. Sometime last winter I realized that there has been a lot of progress since I started using plain javascript and lit-html and that it is time for a release. And then the hard work began... But anyone who has used the browser's own developer tools for working with IndexedDB databases will probably agree that there must be more convenient methods. And even though Kahuna can't do everything I want it to yet, it's certainly a good start. Since yesterday, the webextension…
