I started working as a freelancer [in Finland] a year ago and was surprised to learn that no decent contract template was available for direct assignments. There were some free contract templates available for intermediated assignments, but not for direct assignments. The "golden standard" of contract templates in Finland is an extremely heavy-handed and expensive template that costs ~500€ PER YEAR to use. Personally at the time I decided to just do a DIY contract for my first freelancing project. Over time, as I got more engaged in the Finnish freelancing community, I realized that many…

I'm gauging interest for a service that would help connect devs/designers/copywriters with folks who have short term projects (a few days or weeks of work). The projects would range in value, but should ideally be at least a few $100. Through Forrst, there are already thousands of such people available to work, it's just a matter of if this is interesting to the other side. If it is, would you leave your info? Thanks a ton. Spent the last month building Fertit - basically a newsletter manager but you bring your own SMTP and skip the DevOps nightmare. All the features (subscriber management, admin dashboard, custom preferences) without the infrastructure markup. The math that broke me: Mailchimp: $230/month for 15k contacts My solution: $10/month infrastructure + $10 SendGrid = unlimited What I learned: The "enterprise" features are mostly database operations with SMTP APIs. But the 3 weeks of Go/PostgreSQL/Redis setup explains why people just pay ConvertKit $300/month. Here's the thing:…

Hi, As part of dog fooding my own platform, Strmr.com - I decided to try to do remote online consulting for 5$ per session (mostly one hour slots). I'm hoping this can be an interesting experiment as I'm hoping to get a wider view of what kind of problems the industry is dealing with, as well as expand my network, possibly with like minded founders. Strmr.com is a platform for online professional services. It allows creating groups of providers to organize together. If you think this is of interest for you - please reach out through the contact form - I'm looking for more founders to join me…

As a consultant I foot my own Cursor bills, and last month was $1,263. Opus is too good not to use, but there's no way to cap spending per session. After blowing through my Ultra limit, I realized how token-hungry Cursor + Opus really is. It spins up sub-agents, balloons the context window, and suddenly, a task I expected to cost $2 comes back at $8. My bill kept going up, but was I really going to switch to a worse model? No. So I built l6e: an MCP server that gives your agent the ability to budget. It works with Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Openclaw, and every MCP-compatible application.…

Hi HN, I was once given the advice: Don't waste expensive frontier model credits (GPT/Claude/etc.) on bulk work. Send the boring, repetitive, high-volume jobs to a smaller model, and save the expensive prompts for when you actually need frontier-level reasoning. I complained and told my manager that I shouldnt have to think about using certain models for certain coding tasks, and that one model should handle everything. Well, here we are anyway. If anyone needs a place to absolutely abuse an LLM with high-volume tasks, come beat ours up at https://yolo-auto.com. Here are…
