I've been a longtime member @ HN, but I haven't been a developer. In fact, my only HN submission has been one asking how to learn to code (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=820741). My cofounder and I decided to solve the problem by making a simple, interactive way to get started with Codecademy. We'd love your feedback. If you're interested in helping us to get more courses up (on any topic!), please send us an email at [email protected].

Hello everyone, I've been working on a project called CodenQuest, a coding practice app inspired by platforms like LeetCode, but with a major twist: it's heavily gamified, similar to Duolingo. The main goal is to make coding practice more engaging, especially on mobile. Key Features: - Diverse coding questions with integrated hints and timers. - Code editor with code completion and fill in the blanks questions - Performance statistics (runtime, memory, CPU usage, and more). - Gamified elements: leagues, ranking systems, daily challenges, friends, and streak mechanisms. - Available on iOS and…

Hey HN, I made a simple coding agent plugin in Android Studio called Firebender. Here’s an unedited 5-minute video where it writes tests for an Android app and iterates against the Gradle task output on its own (https://docs.firebender.com/get-started/agent). You can use the plugin for free, no sign up needed, on the jetbrains marketplace. The agent can edit multiple files, run gradle tasks like tests, and use the output to improve its changes. At the end, it reports a git diff of all changes that can be accepted or rejected. Under the hood, the agent relies on Claude 3.7…

This app is a graphical programming environment for kids to learn coding by creating animations. Although we released it to the app store it's still more of a beta version and we would love to solicit feedback from HNers with iPads. To me, programming is something that kids could really enjoy but the obstacles in their way (getting a programming environment, publishing their code, learning syntax) make the barriers to entry unnecessarily high. We're hoping this will be a good first step in overcoming some of that. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/daisy-the-dinosaur/id490514278?ls=1&mt=8…
