Too often I find myself being lazy with commit messages. But I don't want AI to write them for me... only i truly know why i wrote the code i did. So why don't i get AI to help me get that into words from my head? That's what i built: smartcommit asks you questions about your changes, then helps you articulate what you already know into a proper commit message. Captures the what, how, and why. Built this after repeatedly being confused 6 months in a project as to why i made the change i had made... Would love feedback!

This is a small plugin for Simon Willison’s llm utility. It uses staged Git changes and generates a commit message using a LLM. You can do things like: git add . # Stage your changes llm commit # Automatically generate a commit message from the staged diff llm commit --model gpt-4 --max-tokens 150 --temperature 0.8 --yes # Customize model settings (e.g., GPT-4) or skip confirmation

GAC is a tool I built to help users spend less time summing up what was done and more time building. It uses LLMs to generate contextual git commit messages from your code changes. And it can be a drop-in replacement for `git commit -m "..."`. Example: feat(auth): add OAuth2 integration with GitHub and Google - Implement OAuth2 authentication flow - Add provider configuration for GitHub and Google - Create callback handler for token exchange - Update login UI with social auth buttons Don't like it? Reroll with 'r', or type `r "focus on xyz"` and it rerolls the commit with your feedback. You…

My friends and I were complaining about having to decipher incomprehensible code one day and decided to pass the code through GPT to see if it could write easily understandable comments to help us out. It turns out that GPT can but it was still a hassle to generate comments for large files. So we decided to develop a basic web application that automatically integrates with your Github repository, generate comments, create a pull request and send you an email when it is all done. There is definitely a lot more that can be done but we wanted to gain feedback on whether this is a problem that…

Demo: https://asciinema.org/a/695352 Github: https://github.com/versun/aicmt I…

When working on data science projects I often want to just save my work, without having to think deeply about what’s changed. I found the intentionality of Git to feel like friction in these times, and I built GitEase to simplify my workflow. Instead of having to think about add/commit/push/pull with GitEase I just think about `ge load, ge save, ge share, ge undo`. And for even less thinking, I use an LLM (text-da-vinci-003) to generate commit messages by summarizing the diff. Take a look, try it out, and I’d welcome any contributions & feedback. pip install gitease $ ge —help…

I've found it helps PR reviewers when they can look through a set of commits with clear messages and logically organized changes. Typically reviewers prefer a larger quantity of smaller changes versus a smaller quantity of larger changes. Sometimes it gets really messy to break up a change into sufficiently small PRs, so thoughtful commits are a great way of further subdividing changes in PRs. It can be pretty time consuming to do this though, so this tool automates the process with the help of AI. The tool sends the diff of your git branch against a base branch to an LLM provider. The LLM…
