Products that do what Hacker News AI does
Hi HN, I built an AI that can interact with the Hacker News API: https://hn.aidev.run You can ask questions like: - What on hackernews about AI? - What on hackernews about iPhone? - What's trending on hackernews? - What are users showing on hackernews? - What are users asking on hackernews? - Summarize this story: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39156778 It uses function calling to query the HN api. To answer questions about a particular topic, it’ll search its knowledge base (a vector db that is periodically updated with the “top stories”) and get details about…

I've made a Hacker News skill for Alexa so people can get tech news while driving, cooking, or cleaning. The first version lists post titles and summarizes articles: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CKVDXC3 I'll have lots of time over the next few months to refine it and add things like - comment summaries - selecting posts by topic, and eventually - answering questions about articles What do you think of the skill? What I should add to it? What do people think about voice assistants in general? To keep in touch, talk to me on Twitter or by email:…

Hey HN: What it does: HackerVoice automatically generates a daily podcast summarizing the top five trending Hacker News topics using AI. How it works: Uses a combination of Gemini and GPT-4o to analyze and summarize trending topics. Leverages OpenAI’s text-to-speech (TTS) engine to generate natural-sounding narration. Runs on an automated schedule (cron job at 16:00 UTC daily). Episodes are available for listening at: https://hackervoice.vercel.app/.

Based on your feedback (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8874801) we've released a new version of the Hacker News Search. It's accessible through the search box in the footer of Hacker News. We hope you'll enjoy the new minimal design and the additional features. Feel free to give us your dream list of improvements :) ChangeLog: 2015-01-19 - Custom date range picker - Responsive design - New "comments[<>=]X" syntax to filter by number of comments - If the story doesn't have any URL, the link goes to the HN discussion - Here and there cosmetics improvements (less padding,…

Hello there! After Bluesky opened its doors to everyone, I jumped straight into the API to build something. Here is a bot that posts top stories from HN.

Think of HackerNews, but only for AI content. Did build this out of the wish for easier discoverability of new technologies in the AI/ML space. Obviously, so far only a tiny small community, but maybe a few of you find it nice to be around and want to post a link there every now and then :)

Since I got an iPad I was looking for a better Hacker News reading experience than the one you can get using the web version. On the iPhone I use the ihackernews.com web app (and soon going to try news.yc). It's decent for the iPhone, but it doesn't scale good on the iPad. To my surprise, when I checked there was no decent iPad app for HN (i.e. lacking ability to comment or vote, no readability support and more). I anyway wanted to give a try to iPad development, and was looking for an interesting project to work on. Making HN reader app seemed as a good candidate. Over the last weekend I…

We’re George and Ann, and want to share a Hacker News specific browser extension that we have been working on. We all love the rich discussions in HN, but navigating long posts with multiple threads can sometimes be challenging. You get lost in the depth and breadth of the discussion. There are a few AI-based summarization tools, but they typically focus on summarizing the article rather than the comments, and thus miss the essence of threaded discussions. So, we built Hacker News Companion, a browser extension that makes it easy to navigate discussions and understand diverse viewpoints…

I'm Seth, creator of discourse.fm, a browser-based tool/platform to create live audio chat rooms. I just launched an extension of the site - https://hackernews.discourse.fm/ - which pulls stories in real-time from the HN site using the public API, and enables anyone to join a live audio discussion about the story (think Clubhouse rooms autogenerated for HN stories). Once you enter a room, you can grab the link generated for a room and paste it back to the comments on the HN story to invite more participants. hackernews.discourse.fm is both a full-fledged product and a…

Hey HN, Out of frustration of keeping up with AI news, I built hackobar. It fetches the AI related news from multiple sources such as HN, arxiv, github trending repos, huggingface, many ai subreddits, twitter handles that cover AI, Tech news outlets, major ai lab blogs and of course the numerous AI news letters that are growing by day. GitHub trending repos isn't "news" but as an engineer it matters. you can't read every arXiv paper or every HuggingFace drop. HN has the best discussions, Twitter has some, newsletters have some. I used to check 5 places and still felt behind. Building this…

Hi everyone, I read HN every day, but there was always more great content than I had time to read. I know there are already several HN summarizers on GitHub, and I tried some of them. They just didn't fit the workflow I wanted, so I decided to build my own. My project is a self-hosted app that automatically fetches top stories, summarizes them with AI, translates them into your preferred language, and prepares a personalized daily briefing in a nice customizable UI while you sleep. Maybe I'm not the only one who wanted this kind of workflow. I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially on what…
