I feel like it was inevitable, with the recent buzz around NotebookLM. I'm just surprised that it hasn't been done yet.

Paste the following into the console of any HN page - for annotated avatars on all HN comments. Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…

I was looking for some fun project to play around with the latest Gemini models and ended up building this :) Enter your username and get: - Generated roasts and stats based on your HN activity 2025 - Your personalized HN front page from 2035 (inspired by a recent Show HN [0]) - An xkcd-style comic of your HN persona It uses the latest gemini-3-flash and gemini-3-pro-image (nano banana pro) models, which deliver pretty impressive and funny results. A few examples: - dang: https://hn-wrapped.kadoa.com/dang - myself: https://hn-wrapped.kadoa.com/hubraumhugo Give…

Inspired by WikiTok (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42936723) After making HN paradise: https://meet.hn I had to make https://hnhell.com Fully created with v0.dev: wanted to make the joke but didn't have time for it. Thanks v0! It's even better as you will probably enjoy some very cursed errors/problems, which is expected in hell.

Very opportunistic toy project as I saw the domain was up for grabs: 'at.hn' is a little site where people can have their own subdomains for whatever their HN username is (opt-in only by adding a slug to your bio). It doesn't really do much. Just shows your HN bio rendered as markdown plus meta stuff. I'm thinking of adding an aggregated user listing on the homepage so people can explore profiles. There's a bunch of interesting people on HN but discoverability is a bit longwinded. I'm wondering what other features people want. Otherwise shall likely leave it as-is. I remember hnbadges was a…

Hi folks this is a project I worked on with some of my students when I was running an online JS programming course. Although the online course is no more, I finally got around to releasing Hacker Herald with a former instructor and student - thanks Arnav and Archis! To those wondering if there is a need for such a Hacker News front end, I would just point out that most newspaper websites are laid out like this - clearly some people like this kind of layout! Also for some stories a picture really does help - currently there is a HN story titled, "Portland airport grows with expansive mass…

We (Nick, Dens, Denzell, Fede, Drew, Aaryan, and Daniel) have been building HN Discovery, a discovery-focused search engine for Hacker News, in our spare time for the past 6 months and are excited to show it! It adds the following features relative to the existing keyword search interface and preserves the existing ones: - no-JS version (hnnojs.trieve.ai) - site:{required_site} and site:{negated-site} filters - public analytics - LLM generated query suggestions based on random stories - recommendations - dense vector semantic search - SPLADE fulltext search - RAG AI chat - order by…
