We found that evaluating products based on ratings alone often is not helpful, and some products have too many reviews to efficiently read. Also, for many products, we discovered that finding where the well-written and thoughtful reviews fell was more important than the content. I’ve spent the last 2.5 months building a product that runs LLM-powered code reviews on my pull requests — and I just launched it. The tool is built specifically for solo developers. Been going for about three years now on the side, learned to code in Rails from Michael Hartl's book, got help from friends and have been getting tons of feedback. I find using Uservoice's idea generation tool was the best along with emailing all customers a few days after they register to get feedback. I wanted to find a product idea to build. "Build things people want," right? So I thought, why not literally find people saying what they want? I wrote a script to collect thousands of Reddit posts where people are looking for a solution or complaining about a problem. Then I used GPT to filter out the noise and score each one based on how viable the idea seemed. Threw together a simple search interface so anyone can explore them.
