Hi HN! Porter Cloud (https://porter.run/porter-cloud) is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) like Heroku, but we make it easy for you to migrate to AWS, Azure, or GCP when you're ready. Like Heroku, Porter takes care of a lot of generic DevOps work for you (like setting up CI/CD, containerizing your applications, autoscaling, SSL certificates, setting up a reverse proxy) and lets you deploy your apps with a few clicks — saving you a lot of time while developing. However, as you probably know, there’s a downside: platforms like this become constraining if and when your app…

We built it from the ground up, minimal Linux based operating system (written in go and rust), messaging system written in rust and infrastructure as code support (terraform and pulumi) There is even a dashboard, and a playground UI to manage it (that you can even run yourself) . Beautifully decentralized, you have full control of everything, you can deploy on your own servers if the cost of the cloud is too much. You can even run the whole system yourself if you want to. Here is a link to documentation https://manual.grid.tf/ Also, we are honored if it piqued your interest,…

We’ve been building a Cloud-Managed Hypervisor that makes running applications on your own servers as effortless as the public cloud. Over my career I’ve watched the transition from on-prem to public cloud. The cloud paradigm shift is as much about empowering engineers as it is about elastic infrastructure, but the tooling for on-prem and private clouds is at best heavyweight and at worst stuck in the last century. We've tackled some interesting problems in the process of building this, such as providing a cloud-style metadata service from our platform. We’d love for you to read our story…

Hi HN, We’re building Mist, a lightweight, self-hosted PaaS for running and managing applications on your own servers. We started Mist because we wanted a middle ground between raw VPS management and heavy, all-in-one platforms. Existing PaaS solutions often felt too complex or resource-intensive for small servers, homelabs, and side projects. We wanted something that keeps the PaaS experience but stays simple and predictable. Our goals with Mist are: - A simple PaaS to deploy and manage apps on your own infrastructure - HTTPS, routing, and app access handled automatically - Low resource…
