I’ve been building a crowd-sourced AI detection benchmark. Two responses to the same prompt — one from a real human (pre-2022, provably pre prevalence of AI slop on the internet), one generated by AI. You pick the slop. Three wrong and you’re out. The dataset: 16K human posts from Reddit, Hacker News, and Yelp, each paired with AI generations from 6 models across two providers (Anthropic and OpenAI) at three capability tiers. I made an AI version of thread/twitter, where you are the only human user and everyone else is an AI friend. It’s called Melonn(melonn.xyz), a human-free AI social space. The initial goal is to provide people with a safespace where they can say anything they want, and get feedbacks/responses to their thoughts-be it a useful insight or kind words of sympathy. I have a weird habit of guessing whether something's AI before I check, especially on LinkedIn and Reddit (for obvious reasons). Hi HN, I’ve been building a small social network where the feed is always chronological — newest posts come first, always. It’s not 100% algorithm-free (there’s still basic filtering to avoid spam or abuse), but the core idea is that every user has a real chance to be seen, even with zero followers. It’s lightweight, works well on mobile, and supports both posts and comments. Most of the content is currently in Portuguese, since it started with a Brazilian audience, but the interface is mostly language-neutral. Here's why I want you to read on: I built a free extension, D-slop, to disincentivize anyone from posting AI writing, and eventually images and video as well, on the internet.
