I've found it helps PR reviewers when they can look through a set of commits with clear messages and logically organized changes. Typically reviewers prefer a larger quantity of smaller changes versus a smaller quantity of larger changes. Sometimes it gets really messy to break up a change into sufficiently small PRs, so thoughtful commits are a great way of further subdividing changes in PRs. It can be pretty time consuming to do this though, so this tool automates the process with the help of AI. The tool sends the diff of your git branch against a base branch to an LLM provider. The LLM…

I kept failing at building in public for the same reason every time: not fear of judgment, just the blank page after a long day of shipping. Something always happened. But converting "refactored auth flow" or "fixed that edge case that's been annoying me for a week" into something worth posting felt like a second job on top of the actual job. So I'd skip it. Then skip it again. Then stop entirely. The approach: connect your GitHub, it pulls recent commits and repo activity, and generates draft posts for multiple platforms in your tone — raw founder voice, not content creator polish. The idea…

Code review conversations on GitHub can be frustratingly slow, now you can have them on Slack. Features: - Each pull request (PR) on GitHub creates a Slack channel (public or private) with all involved parties (creator, assignees, and reviewers). - An auto-generated summary in English of what the PR does, making it easier for reviewers to enter the context. - Notifications of workflow results, new commits, new approvals... are sent in the channel. - Code comments with context are available. The initial review still takes place on GitHub, but messages are then transferred to Slack for…

Hi HN, I built a free, and completely open source, visual studio code extension, which generates tweets based on commits you select. While I was working on webtilities.com, an idea came to me: wouldn't it be cool that I could market this thing inside my editor. Ah, i'm truly lazy. Well, I spent a week building this thing that I bet no one will need because: * "This wont work. My commit messages are terrible" * "This is stupid, I can just use ChatGPT/Gemini/[Insert Chat Platform] directly" * "This is stupid, I get BILLED for using openai tokens" ... And the list goes on. But, I…

Hey HN! I just shipped a project I’ve been working on called Buildshare. Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsacqlCHlzE How does it work? 1. Enter some info about a product that you’re building 2. Connect your Github + install a plugin on the repository of the product 3. Every time you ship new code (by either merging a pull request or making a commit), you get a tweet generated automatically with GPT to announce the new feature. Generated tweets follow best practices that are optimised for grabbing people’s attention and making them want to check out what you’ve built.…

Hi Everyone, I made an open-source GitHub bot that automatically submits a detailed line-by-line code review instantly on any new PR. It's just one-click install to get started. You can host your own bot if you'd like. Open for feedback. thanks!
