Products that do what I built a tech news aggregator that works the way my brain does does
An honest to god, non-algorithmic reverse chrono list of tech news that passes my signal-to-noise tests, updated hourly. A lightweight a page design as I've been able to keep; simple, clean, fast. No commercial features or aspirations - this is a passion project, something I've been fooling around with on and off for decades. There's a "Top" view too with an LLM edited front page & summary, and categorized views for a large number of topics - see the Directory. A few more buried features to explore, but the fundamental use case is pop in, scan, exit - fast and concise. Your feedback would be…

I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Please try it out and let me know what do you think, http://telescope.surf/ Note: you can do 'Add to Homescreen' on mobile to make it as an app. Please leave a feedback or any feature wishlist you may have. Thanks!

Hi HN, this is something I created for my personal use and I have been using it daily for a long time now. It’s a page that shows top 25 links from the sources mentioned in the title. Updates every 10 minutes through a cron job and new links are always added to the top. Some more details: It’s using simple heuristics like minimum upvotes/comments to select the links. For techmeme, only the first headline on techmeme.com is considered a top link. For reddit, currently fetching content from only a select few subreddits. It’s just a simple page. No ad. No tracking. It’s the first tab I…

Think of HackerNews, but only for AI content. Did build this out of the wish for easier discoverability of new technologies in the AI/ML space. Obviously, so far only a tiny small community, but maybe a few of you find it nice to be around and want to post a link there every now and then :)

HN, With an overwhelming amount of tech news being reported every day - I have always struggled to find the time to read the articles, even when I want to. So I created a solution for myself where I extract key points of the articles and present them as bullet points, for readability. I figured others might be feeling the same way, so I am making it available publicly. I update it every hour. I would really appreciate any suggestions on improvement. I look forward to hearing your thoughts/feedback. URL: https://techbullets.com

Hey my name is Crisa and this is my first post here on HN. I love this site and it inspired me to build a clone of it for my newsletter. Instead of having a boring landing page, I hope to gather articles, blogs, interesting projects on my own platform. I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad so that I can improve the site. Hey folks! This is a project that I've been working in my free time for the past few months. It's a news aggregator that uses AI to select relevant articles and summarize them. The default sources are frameworks and libraries' updates, popular HN topics, and languages' subreddits threads that make past a certain threshold. You can run a local instance (needs an OpenAI key) and customize it with your own sources, and adjust the prompt as well. The resulting website can be browsed at https://dev-radar.com/ My next experiment will be with local news. I'm building some feeds with…

I built a small experiment that crawls tech-news-adjacent sites (like HN) and generates a newspaper-style front page for each one. This was inspired by Cloudflare's recent (controversial?) release of their /crawl API. It runs periodic crawls, picks up the top stories, and lays them out in a classic broadsheet format: top story, trending section, briefs, etc. Basically a daily edition of your favorite tech site. Nothing serious, just a weeknight project to play with Cloudflare's /crawl API and a few of their other tech offerings (workers, D1, etc.). I'm not in any way sponsored by…

HN is my homepage, and this site has inspired me throughout the years. I don't really know what I'm doing but I built DreyX.com from scratch as I got tired of searching for AI news all over the internet each day. Feel free to check it out and provide any sort of suggestions / feedback. Thanks!

I struggle with wanting to read heaps of stuff I come across on the internet daily, as well as being subscribed to a bunch of tech-related newsletters that I never get around to reading. I made this to get through that content much faster while working or otherwise multitasking. Check it out and please lmk your thoughts! Also, curious if others also feel this pain of too much interesting content to get through daily. FWIW I probably listen to this for >1 hour daily atm.

Hey folks, I built this as a nightly job that pulls the tweets from a burner account I made, then passes it to GPT-4.1 to summarize alongside some recent headlines: https://github.com/neelsomani/tweet-insight-daily/blob/main/...

This site was born out necessity. I needed a break from the internet we know today: clickbait, politics, low quality content, breaking news, AI summaries Such a breadth of information but so little depth Now I spend (too much of) my time here, going deep. Just when I need to scratch that itch. But I keep coming back because it actually makes me a better engineer. Oh, and I made the site. Right. Anyways, I hope you enjoy crawling the blogs as much as I have. Enjoy! And PLZ reply with any feedback. I am here to make this site better. It will always be free.

Hi HN! I built a proof of concept 'newspaper' that creates short news articles of today's current events with GPT. This is a very rough proof of concept but I can't help but think this concept is the future. I think we'll all have AI daily newspapers in whatever theme we want, covering any amount of information we want, with the ability to expand or contract article length instantly. Sharing just to get everyone thinking about this future. Thanks for reading!

Hey HN! Quick TL; DR: I set up scrapers for the websites of ~20k tech companies, fed the results through GPT, spent some sleepless nights building a web app, and voilá. I started this after getting fed up with how slow LinkedIn felt. I finally got it working and easy to use, so I wanted to share it with you guys. The job list is free. But I’m currently paying a lot of money to OpenAI for all the data I’m passing through GPT, so I may end up eventually charging for some advanced features, or putting ads on it or something. Please let me know what you think! I’m actively developing this so I’m…

A Hacker News client with a clean, mobile friendly UI. Features : - bookmark stories. follow discussions / read them later at your convenience. - quickly search for articles using keywords. No more scrolling through the website. - easily managable nested comments. I love the current Hacker News experience and I don't believe my client is in any way a substitute to the original website. Built it over a few days for fun and found myself coming back to it once in a while for some of the features. Wanted to share this with the community. Let me know what you folks think :)
