Hi HN, I watch A LOT of educational YouTube videos but wasn't forgetting a good chunk of the details because I was only really passively watching. So I made a tool that generates quiz questions/flashcards from YouTube videos, and uses spaced repetition like Anki or Duolingo to keep it in memory. Let me know if you find it cool/useful (or terrible ) or if you want to know a bit about the details!

Hey - I've been playing with LLMs since GPT-2 and recently experimented with fully generative UIs where the HTML/Canvas are generated just-in-time. Every post on the feed( on slop/duck/storytime) you see is streamed and generated just-in-time with HTML and into a Canvas with Gemini 3 Flash. Comments and DMs are bidirectionally linked with a Cloudflare Workers Durable Object which is why they feel so fast. Every generated post is saved into a DO SQLite which is then served into the "Following" feed so it can be served quicker. This was inspired by Wikitok, a VSCode Extension I…

QuizKnit is an open source quiz creator to create quizzes by pasting in text or selecting from a large range of historical categories. Started as a very simple app for me to play around with OpenAI’s API last year then morphed into a portfolio project during my job search earlier this year. Now happily employed so decided to open source it. Right now, a user can create a quiz, take a quiz, save it and share the quiz with other people using a URL. You can try out the full working application at https://quizknit.com Github Links: Frontend:…

I am about to graduate from university this year, and I had an idea to create a mobile app similar to TikTok but for OnlyFans. Interestingly, the inspiration to replicate TikTok came from an episode of the Acquired Podcast discussing Meituan. It seemed somewhat ironic to copy a Chinese app. I ran out of money to pay rent though, so I’m looking for jobs here in Sydney instead now. I want to keep working on this project in my spare time and would appreciate any feedback and particularly guidance for how to run an open-source project!

Hello everyone! I always found it hard to find new research papers outside of my usual bubble. I thought a random feed (with no recommendation algorithms) might be a fun way to explore. But I also didn’t want to waste time on completely unrelated stuff — so the idea of a fast, swipeable format came to mind. Wikitok was a real inspiration! But Arxiv and Open Review APIs weren’t as robust as Wikipedia, so I pulled the papers into a Postgres backend. Right now, I’ve indexed papers from a few recent ML conferences to see if this might be useful for others too. No signups required and it’s…

I wanted to kick my doomscrolling habit, so I built a microlearning app that uses a TikTok-style algorithm, same addictive feed mechanics, but you actually learn something. I started with a general version, Scroll: Daily Microlearning (microlearning.usescroll.app), but quickly realised it works better when focused on a single topic. So I split it into: Scroll: Personal Finance (https://finance.usescroll.app) Scroll: Learn AI (https://ai.usescroll.app) Scroll: Daily Microlearning (https://microlearning.usescroll.app)

Hi Everyone, I recently wanted to learn Japanese with duolingo but it kept giving me repetitive lessons. So I built an app that gives a variety of lessons from anime. You can try it out here:https://kanjieight.vercel.app/ Thanks everyone.
