Best practices for Server-Driven UI (SDUI) is hard to find or is unclear. I've worked with it for a number of years and have created this repository to share my learning. I hope this gives some clarity to what SDUI can do. It's a project that will continue to grow and feel free to share/express/educate/hate/love some feedback.

Hi guys, I've created an open source web builder framework (https://grapesjs.com) years ago, which I'm still maintaining, and now I'm excited to publish a side project based on it, Grapedrop (https://grapedrop.com). It's a simple web page builder which allows you to design and publish your web pages very quickly. The project is still in beta with a lot of stuff to improve but I'd really like to share it and hear what people think about it and maybe also get some constructive feedback.

Hey, We've just open-sourced MCP-UI, a project that provides lean client and server SDKs to enable passing rich, interactive UI components over vanilla MCP. We believe it'll enable a future where AI interaction will be based on UI snippets for interactive experiences. MCP-UI is meant to be a playground to bootstrap the initiative. Hopefully, through experimentation, the community can find the best way to enable this new future. Under the hood, the SDK enables any MCP server to respond with an EmbeddedResource with a "ui://" URI. The client SDK allows hosts to render it using a…

I've been specializing in UI for over a decade. Using code for UI is great but I always wished there was a more visual code to build apps and sites. So I went ahead and built it. Decided to build it with Compose Multiplatform since I work a lot with Kotlin. Currently exports to CMP as it was simpler due to the context switch. You can try it for free and export some apps

Hi! Recently I've launched - mybfio.io - platform for software reviews with social network aspect. Prehistory Many great system are already in place that allow people to search and rate software products, including the site I am publishing this post on. However I have always felt that those systems are not specifically centered around product/software development lifecycle (releases, real users feedback over a product entire lifetime, so on) and often too broad or not designed specifically for that type of work, which is ok. Why? As an opensource author I would like to have constant…

I have ignored high paying jobs/ several contracting gigs to build Xervmon.com. I would really appreciate help to test the UI for UX. I want folks who can be brutal about the tool and give a feedback on which we can improve the UI and UX. The UI does standout, but to what level it stands out, I am not sure. One catch : You need to sign up to navigate through UI. First I was shy to show my work, then angry and upset when users commented and now am shameless. Be my guest and give me feedback so I can take it as another challenge to improve the user experience.

Howdy friends! Tell me if this is an atrociously terrible idea - I've been working on building a leetcode for clientside devs so we can practice React and Javascript interview questions in a more concise way, I call it clientside.dev I just finished a beta version of it yesterday and plan on releasing it with many more problems on Jan 1st but it's there if you wanna play with it open to any ideas / feedback however mean or nice it may be :)

Hi HN, We’ve been working on LiveUI, a tool to address some common frustrations we’ve encountered in mobile UI development. One thing we’ve noticed is how often designers and developers end up doing the same work twice. Designers create detailed design systems, but developers then have to reimplement those designs in code. This isn’t just inefficient — it can also lead to communication issues, inconsistencies, and delays. Here’s a quick summary of the problems we’re trying to solve: 1. Mobile UI updates lag behind web. 2. UI updates must go through app stores, adding delays. 3. Design…

Over the last year or so I've been building a DB GUI that has all the features I've wanted in a db client. It's built using Tauri (so react for the ui and Rust for all the db interactions, LSP and multiplayer networking). I've been using it as my primary db client for a while but it just recently got to a point where it would make sense for other people to try it so I've [open sourced](https://github.com/getpeek/peek) it and slopped together a website for it. What sets Peek apart from most other solutions is that all queries and results are laid out on an infinite canvas…

I created http://devtest.net as a weekend project, and I'm pretty proud of it from a technical and UI standpoint. The problem is, I've built this by myself in a bit of a vacuum, to "scratch my own itch", and I don't know if this is useful to anyone other than me. I'm also not so hot on the business side and don't really know what I'm doing. Basically, I'm looking for some advice, now that I've actually launched, what now? One thing that this has shown me is that I'm capable of putting together a pretty decent web application on my own in my spare time. Should I stick with this idea, or…

Hello HN ! There’s been a lot of discussions [1,2] on how to build ReBAC [3] with Zanzibar and policy-as-code engines, but we (Permit) also think it’s important to talk about the interfaces on top of these implementations. We just launched a No-Code ReBAC interface - would love to know what you think. besides marrying the benefits of Policy as Code and Policy as Graph, the idea here is to create simple enough interfaces that everyone can use, so developers can set the stage and delegate the rest to others. We used Role-derivation as a concept to simplify a lot of the mechanics what should we…

Hi HN! Solo developer here. 10 days ago, I started building this after spending countless hours copying/pasting marketing sections and fighting to keep them consistent with our design system. I wondered: "What if AI could understand our design system and generate React components that actually match it?" Current progress (10 days in): - Can generate hero sections that follow your design tokens - Uses your actual component variants and styles - Works with Next.js, Tailwind, shadcn/ui It's very early days, but I'm excited to share it with other devs who: - Are tired of rebuilding…

I have spent years trying to understand and follow established software architectures - and wound up writing my own at the end: SRA (Specification - Realization - Assembly). Please do check it out and let me know what you think! Background: Whenever I would learn a new architecture, the initial ideas seemed interesting but the implementation almost always ended up with my autistic sense of detail screaming loudly about one or more shortcomings and even inconsistencies. For example, a lot of architectures rely on human discipline, give certain aspects of the software - such as the UI - an…

Hello everyone, I'm excited to share the project vx.dev with you all. Inspired by the technical insights and experiences from v0.dev, we've now managed to seamlessly integrate the experience of converting text and images into UI code with the familiar GitHub issue/PR/code-review process. Additionally, this project offers further customization of prompts and the choice of suitable AI models. This integration not only enhances productivity but also opens up new possibilities for developers looking for flexible, budget-friendly, and customizable solutions.

Hey devs :) With 15+ years of UI kit building & design systems, my team is launching a platform that allows developers to build consistent & fully functional UI kits / web projects in days, instead of months. Giving you best practices with the most advanced system design/system design for reusing UI components, combined with access to 500+ open-source components that you can build anything with. Yes it’s open source tech with no vendor lock. Which means you can export any part of your UI kit / project at anytime. Our goal isn’t to enhance your tech stack, not to lock you in.…

Thesys just open-sourced their generative UI rendering engine. Interesting timing given where Google a2ui and Vercel's json-render are headed. The difference worth noting: a2ui and json-render both treat JSONL as the contract between the LLM and the renderer. Thesys is betting that's the wrong primitive. Their engine uses a code-like syntax (OpenUI Lang) instead — LLM writes it, renderer executes it. The argument is that LLMs are fundamentally better at generating code than generating structured data, so you get cleaner output and ~67% fewer tokens. The broader vision seems to be a…

Recently I'm working on CopyUI which is an extension to copy UI element from websites and export html(or jsx) and css(or tailwind). I'm building this tool in order to create better landing pages because I'm really not good at layout and colors. So I hope to learn from others' design and innovate later, not to simply replicate.

Hi HN! I'm one of the creators of Specify, and we're thrilled to share this on HN. I must admit, I'm quite nervous about sharing Specify here, but I was also eager to get your feedback. We've been working on design systems for several years now, so my main focus is on designers and front-end developers, or anyone working with web interfaces. Less than two years ago, we launched Specify 1.0, which allowed designers and developers to connect their Figma files, extract styles and assets, transform them, and deliver them to developers' tools in the desired formats. In addition to working with…

Hi HN, A lot of the dev teams I have worked with had a lot of issues with their documentation. In fact, some of my easiest clients to get were from clients that had "black box" solutions that devs no longer at the company had created. Personally, writing documentation is like grinding nails on a chalkboard. I have been having a lot of fun with building solutions that can run in a distributed way, not something a dev needs to run themselves. And after a significant amount of testing and building out several different solutions, I finally have a solution that is easy to set up and runs in the…

Hi HN, I've been building CH-UI, an open-source ClickHouse workspace. Today I'm releasing v2, which is a complete rewrite from scratch. v1 was a React SPA served via Docker. v2 is a single Go binary with an embedded Svelte frontend — download, run, open browser. No Docker, no Node, no runtime dependencies. What it does: - Multi-tab SQL editor with autocomplete - Database/table explorer with data preview - Saved queries - Tunnel architecture: run `ch-ui server` on one machine and `ch-ui connect` next to your ClickHouse — secure WebSocket tunnel, no VPN needed - Self-update (`ch-ui…
