I've long been into finding deals on government auction sites (seizures, surplus sales etc.) - right now for example San Diego DHS is selling 26 tons of lead shot, with bidding starting at $1,000 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It has historically been extremely tedious though: scanning dozens of janky sites which have interminable page loading times; back buttons take you all the way back to the homepage etc. The site I built - GovAuctions - lets you search every government surplus auction at once. You can filter by location, category, and price, save items to a watchlist, and get alerts when new auctions…

For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? Personally this was fueled by my own frustrations when I was apartment hunting in NYC. Free people from going to a cafe for work only to leave because there's no wifi, restroom, or outlet!! Demo: https://x.com/KSeisai/status/1708273554041504028?s=20

Hi HN, When working with BGP data, I kept running into the same friction: it’s easy to get raw data, but surprisingly hard to browse networks over time — especially by when they appeared, where they operate, and what they actually look like at a glance. I built a small tool, bgpscout.io, to scratch that itch. It lets you: Browse ASNs by registration date and geography See where a given network appears to have presence View commonly scattered public data about an ASN in one place Save searches to track when new networks matching certain criteria appear All of this data is public already; the…

Best to just try it :) The tl:dr is it helps you to r The summaries with references to parts of the page are useful now - and the "text zoom" tool a glimpse of where we can go Works with local Ollama and the usual suspects: Mistral/OpenAI/Gemini Obviously could be better - and hopefully will be :)
