After having cycled through various CLI-based todo apps, I started to realise that I actually don’t need a tool at all for managing my todos. Most of the time, my use cases are quite simple, like viewing my todo items, checking them off, or adding a new one. Rather than having to memorise CLI commands for these interactions (which I’m not super good at), I figured that it’s easier for me to use my text editor directly, and have an editor plugin help me with the visual structure and some convenience functionality. So, kind-of similar to Emacs Org Mode, but without having to use Emacs. I…

eno [1] - A modern plaintext language w/ libraries [2] for JavaScript, Python, Ruby & soon more! We migrated a big relational research database to a file-based solution - requirements were: - Super fast and easy editability for users - Highest performance for parsing/validating >10K documents on every user change. Our trials with YAML/TOML showed us that we wanted something both faster [3][4] and easier [4], something tailored for file-based content management ... and after months of research & development it's now publicly available (under MIT license) for everyone! Kalmia started as a small hobby project about two months ago, but it quickly evolved when we needed a better solution to manage our office's documentation. It has now become our go-to tool for both internal and user-facing docs. Recently, we decided to open source it, as we believe others might benefit from a lightweight, customizable documentation system like this. We're excited to see how the community can take it further, contribute, and adapt it to their own needs!

We needed a JS-first WYSIWYG DOCX editor and couldn't find a solid OSS option, most were either commercial or abandoned. As an experiment, we gave Claude Code the OOXML spec, a concrete editor architecture, and a Playwright-based test suite. The agent iterated in a (Ralph) loop over a few nights and produced a working editor from scratch. Core text editing works today. Tables and images are functional but still incomplete. MIT licensed.

Hi HN, Since 2019, I’ve been working on a writing platform designed for creating complex documents (e.g., theses). I personally use it for everything as it also allows to classify documents in categories so you can organize them efficiently. As of a few months ago, the app is also available in the browser, and you can now invite coworkers to collaborate on a document in real time. The app is somewhat inspired by LyX. It offers an intuitive, modern editor, but users don’t need to know any LaTeX. When it’s time to export, they can choose from a range of templates (IEEE paper, thesis, etc.). A…

We're excited to share EloqDoc, a new open source document database built on top of Data Substrate. EloqDoc is designed around the principle of treating object storage (like S3) as a first-class citizen for durability and cost efficiency. If you love the flexibility of MongoDB's document model but are struggling with scaling, cost, and consistency due to its coupled architecture, EloqDoc is for you. It’s built to solve MongoDB's inherent infrastructure challenges while remaining fully compatible with existing MongoDB clients and drivers. Key Features: 1. Object Storage as First Citizen: Uses…
