I've developed a Python API service that uses GPT-4o for OCR on PDFs. It features parallel processing and batch handling for improved performance. Not only does it convert PDF to markdown, but it also describes the images within the PDF using captions like `[Image: This picture shows 4 people waving]`. In testing with NASA's Apollo 17 flight documents, it successfully converted complex, multi-oriented pages into well-structured Markdown. The project is open-source and available on GitHub. Feedback is welcome.

After two years of improvement, I think it's time to share it with you all. Here’s a quick overview: - Common features include validation, formatting, minification, and more. - Visualize JSON in a graph or table view. - Structured comparison with fallback to text comparison. - Navigate though JSON using JSON pointer. - Supports jq. Would love to hear the community's questions, thoughts and comments!

Hi HN! I'm Alex, a tech enthusiast. I'm excited to show you Jesth, a next-level human-readable data serialization format. This project started out as a markup language for writing the docstrings of functions that would ultimately be consumed by a documentation generator. Basically the idea was to split a docstring into sections like Description and Parameters. Each section would consist of a header in square brackets and a body (lines of text between two headers). Here's what a docstring for a sum function would look like: This function takes in two integers a and b and returns their sum.…

Hey HN! I'm Jakub, and together with my co-founders Agnieszka and Nathan, we built Aidlab, a wearable that gives developers gold-standard physiological data. Unlike health trackers with locked-down APIs, Aidlab ships with a free SDK [1] across 6+ platforms so you can just pip install aidlabsdk or flutter pub add aidlab_sdk or whatever platform (even Unity), and start streaming raw health data and events in real time with simple didReceive*(timestamp, value) callbacks. Currently, we are exposing 13 data types including raw ECG, cough/snoring, motion, raw respiration, skin temperature,…

When building workflows that rely on LLMs, we commonly use structured output for programmatic use cases like converting an invoice into rows or meeting transcripts into tickets or even complex PDFs into database entries. The model may return the schema you want, but with hallucinated values like `invoice_date` being off by 2 months or the transcript array ordered wrongly. The JSON is valid, but the values are not. Structured output today is a big part of using LLMs, especially when building deterministic workflows. Current structured output benchmarks (e.g., JSONSchemaBench) only validate…

If you just want to use it, try here - https://pdf2md.trieve.ai . I think the LLM's are astoundingly good at converting complex powerpoint style infographics. I wouldn't normally think folks on HN would find this interesting as the general concept has been posted about already in the past few months. We were heavily inspired by Zerox[1]. However, the stack we went with was fun and over-engineered which is more likely to create interesting discussion. We use all the same tools at Trieve (our main product), but wanted to see if they would be a good fit for something that needed to…

I work on code generator that creates TypeScript SDKs from OpenAPI specs and Zod (https://zod.dev/) is a critical building block that I chose to power runtime validation in those SDKs. Depending on the complexity of a Zod schema, the resulting validation error message can contain a wall of JSON text - the serialised issues that were recorded during validation. I wanted to try and create a small tool to help me better visualise and parse these errors. In code and the command line, we do also have the ability to pretty-print the errors but I still wanted a web UI which can let…

Hi HN, My background is on datascience and I thought during the last few weeks on how to turn the data into commodity problem: Getting any meaningful out of data can be erroneous, time-consuming and includes repeatable processing work (and it is done over and over again). Im trying to mitigate this by harmonizing data, so it is ready for being consumed via an API or Spreadsheet. After a few iterations I ended up with this prototype that I wanted to share with you. Please notice, that this is an early prototype and not a finalized product yet. Im also delighted to know your opinions or…

The output will be a de-identified version of the original input, where both direct and indirect identifiers - like those mentioned above - have been redacted. This ensures that the resulting output is HIPAA compliant, and We encourage you to test and play around with this tool - no input or output data is stored or saved.
