Author here - one of the most notable facts about the app is that it's made entirely in Godot Game Engine! I think it's great for apps like this because it makes it especialy easy to iterate on GUI designs such as this one. Feel free to ask me anything about Chord Chart Memo, or my experience with Godot.

Hi HN! I'm Gabe, the creator of Songcraft (https://songcraft.io/home). I recently dove headfirst into songwriting, and I quickly grew frustrated with my process. I found songwriting difficult enough without having to wrangle a mess of different tools, and there's no great solution to build chord sheets and tabs (unless you love pure text input). So, I built Songcraft - an online songwriting platform and tab builder. The drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to jump from chords to lyrics to melodies. I added a chord progression generator and chord recommendation engine to ensure…

Hey HN, I'm a software engineer with a passion for playing guitar. (https://ivanhsu.co) In the software industry, we use clever plain-text syntaxes like Markdown and Mermaid to handle complex layouts. This lets us focus on the content itself and quickly produce beautifully formatted documents. Isn't sheet music and chord charts just another form of documentation in the world of music? That's why I created Cord Land https://cord.land/landing ! It's a website where you can quickly generate lead sheets and draw chord charts using plain text. Even better, it can…

I designed a relative piano-roll-based music notation. I used 12 colored arranged in a specific way to make visible the main effects and oppositions of Western tonal harmony. The tonic is always white, so a manual annotation/interpretation is required for each MIDI file. All chords are flags of three to four colors. Minor mode is darker, major mode is lighter. Colors are arranged in thirds. I sorted the pieces from simple complex harmony. I also wrote a bit of text to explain what you may see. There's also a corpus of structures: hyperlinks of tags that allow you to find similar…

Hey there, Hacker News community! I've just brought my dream app to life, and I'm eager to share it with you all. At a glance, it might seem like a search engine, but it's really so much more. It's an intuitive tool specifically designed for practicing musicians. What's the magic ingredient, you ask? The app shows users critical musical details about any song of their choice - but that's not even the best part. The real showstopper is that it can unveil the underlying chord structure of the song, which enables musicians to play along, learn the song, and anticipate the upcoming chord…
